It just took me over an hour to convert this: Watersong led us through the trees to a small building that looked like the entryway to a bunker. She passed her right palm over a plain metal plate. An invisible door opened silently, revealing a lit spiral staircase leading downward into an infinite vo...

Update on my attempt to be a published author

Hello Earthfriends! The novel-writing has been progressing slowly. Maybe it's due to living with all these disorders - internal and external problems plague me constantly. If the only thing Covenant had to worry about in reality was leprosy - no, he had social problems, too. Supposedly, there was st...

This book lacks motion. So it's really not finished. I've got to start writing on it again.

That's the one that was obsessed with author Chesterson, right?
:D
FWIW, methinks I found the convo: What philosophy books are you reading?
I can see how he might take that personally, especially if he's someone who gets triggered easily.

This always was a nice forum, with the exception of that Russian guy who verbally attacked me when I asked him if he wanted to discuss Immanuel Kant. That was unpleasant.

Yo Wormy! Keep us posted. Years ago I read The Pocket and the Pendant , by the Watch's Mark Jeffrey. May as well read another. :D Of course, I'll keep you guys posted. I just want to warn you that I'm not a Mark Jeffrey or a Stephen R. Donaldson. This type of writing is more difficult than I though...

Yo Wormy! Keep us posted. Years ago I read The Pocket and the Pendant , by the Watch's Mark Jeffrey. May as well read another. :D The entire manuscript is shareable on Google docs. I've given out public links to the first chapter on Facebook already. So here's a sneak preview! https://docs.google.c...

Thank you! How've you been doing? It's good to see a familiar face - or a familiar bison, in your case. I see we're both in the Pacific Northwest. That's close to the location of my book's events. It's still in manuscript form, but it's a completed manuscript. I'm in search of a publishing agent so ...

Re: Name this Science Fiction Novel!

This is a partial plot of a (possible) 1960s Ace Double story with an unknown title and author. An electrical engineer (circa 1960s) is climbing in the mountains when he is suddenly transported to another planet. The planet is (or seems to be) completely deserted, but contains the remnants of an am...

Stumped? Here's another science fiction story synopsis, with an unknown author and name. Earth, present day. The Sun's orbit around the center of our galaxy drags the Earth out of the "shadow" of a ray of unknown origin that beams out from the center of the Milky Way. This ray had the eff...

I like the Incarnations series for a while, and a few other of his books I found used, but it seemed to keep spiraling out to "this guy and this hot girl who has the hots for this guy for some reason." It got tedious and I stopped being interested in his writing. But I did have some fun w...

Here's another one to stump the one person who reads this thread:

An asteroid known affectionately as "the potato" arrives in Earth's solar system. The US and Russia then fight for dominance over it.

It's easy for an author to write tons of light-weight reading. Consider the Tarzan novels and other ERB series, and Doc Savage. They also sell well. Piers Anthony also wrote some heavy stuff but it didn't sell.
