I am working on something right now that is blowing my mind. Godel's Incompleteness theorem is usually discussed as a negative result proving that the foundations of math are incomplete and insufficient to ground all of math upon them. People misuse this result to say things like, "Truth cannot...

Wear is now launching an institution that will train Christians in public life to reject culture-war fights and to emphasize the public service aspect of politics. Most Christian political organizations argue for politicians to take a position on a few issues of particular concern. Wear’s new gro...

I agree that Wos's copy/pastes are better suited here than in the Tank, but I'm curious: if I started a thread about Billy Graham and started posting his views on political issues here, would the thread get deleted? I honestly can't tell what's allowed and what's not anymore. Spelling that stuff out...

Since threads and entire forums are disappearing without warning, I have been frantically copying/saving all my original work in the philosophy discussions lest someone decide they didn't like my tone there and delete those, too. Which brings me to my question: is everything from the Tank actually d...

It was nuked. And then the thread where it was explained that the conservatives did to themselves was nuked. So your confusion is understandable. (If discussion of the event in question wasn't wanted in that thread, where it was on-topic, we never got any warning. Nor was it locked. Confusion abound...

I was just checking the statistics myself. Looks like something happened a year ago, September 2021, when new posts dropped by half and then stayed at that level. The number of posts per month have been more than 20 times higher than they are now.

I use it like butter. I put it in my cheese grits. Melt it in a pan before cooking eggs. Etc. The flavor is incredible.

I get soup bones from Publix and use the Instapot to make bone broth in about 2 hours. I like to skim the fat off the top to use in recipes. The broth is good enough to drink on its own, but makes an awesome soup!

It’s absolutely impossible that reality is a dream of a turtle, not unless a single turtle can have the brain capacity, intelligence, and language to create the sum total of human knowledge. Which they don’t.

While this show may not be as good as the original (yet), it is doing everything right that ROP is doing wrong. The acting is pro. The writing is witty, entertaining, and real. These feel like real people having real problems and real emotions, not little speeches or exposition. There were a couple ...

I honestly thought there would be more discussion here on this show, given the amount of anticipation. Episode three was better, allowing Galadriel's story to settle down to one place. Numenor was gorgeous and well done. The actors here were great. The dialogue, however, was as bad as ever. Galadrie...

Spoilers for people who don’t know why boats float: it isn’t because they seek the light. Jesus. I disagree HLT, I thought this was the epitome of cheesy, stupid writing. I’ve argued with some on FB who said I just didn’t get the symbolism, but when it’s revealed what was whispered (dumb: ...

It's like Amazon wrapped the Lord of the Rings Appendices around the Ill-Earth Stone and then sat on it while writing the script. I don't even know what the hell I just watched.   Exactly. It's minor complaint, but even the music felt wrong. We had a choir of men with deep voices si...

I agree with the review. This was awful. There is no story here. There is no focus. Everything is contrived. There is no depth. It's silly. Every scene felt unnecessary and ad hoc. Melodramatic. Meteor man is dumb. It felt like a big budget Willow. The only thing that felt like Tolkien was the names...
