Jesus to return May 21, 2011

as according to these people: www.freep.com/article/20101204/NEWS05/12040397/1319/Billboards-to-proclaim-Jesus-return Note that this thread is not a knock on Christianity or any other religion as such or in general. I do not know any Christians who are into this date setting stuff, and that is what ...

I would have also voted for DG, but if you want to read something by Kay, please go for Under Heaven, which for me was the the perfect stand alone epic fantasy. It is a wonderful book.

(City and the City is really good, too, and deserved all of those awards it got. 8) )

Re: Books for teenagers

Anyone know of any good new series that 12-15yo girls might like? Recommendations from here ensured my nieces were into Twilight before any of their friends, so I've got a reputation to maintain! Newish but not brand new - perhaps if they like the Twilight books they might like a series by Rachel C...

I cannot disagree with you guys more. Just asking - how many times have you watched this, and were you able to watch it in sequence as DVD's or all broken up on TV? Because I watched it the first time on my vacation week on DVD last week, and thought it was good, though not as good as BOB. Now I hav...

Ah poor Felisin... She is probably the most well developed and tragic of Erikson's characters (to me anyway). We first hear of her back in GOTM in what is one of the most important bits of foreshadowing in the series - when Ganoes Parran goes home and talks to his other sister, Tavore. Who could gue...

I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE CAME THAT CLOSE!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE SHE LOST!!!!! Damn, that's out of the movies!!! What an incredible race!!!!! I think that is a race all who watched it will remember forever. Zenyatta revealed her true quality even in her lone defeat. One of the greatest of all time! No que...

Occasionally greatness comes through even in defeat. The great mare lost for the first time last night, in her final race. :( The odds were so far against her though - and if she had had room for only one more stride she would have beaten the very good young stallion (only 4 years old to her six) Bl...

GOTM does not make a whole lot of sense initially. It all sorts of starts to suddenly hang together a couple of hundred pages in. :? It also makes a heck of a lot more sense when you go back and reread it after reading the next book or so!   The author is presenting it as if from a h...

Good book and happy times in store for you. :) 8)

The Chain of Dogs storyline (which you will get to later in the book) is one of the most powerful in all of epic fantasy.

Wish I could read that again for the first time <sigh>.

Aliantha, That's between GRRM and his publishers. I think he needs to take a step back away from the series for a few months or maybe even years so that he can not see it as the giant rock he's pounding his head against. I think that is probably exactly why he has been doing the side projects - the...

Glad you had a good time with your brother, dlb. Did you guys get to go fishing, after all? No, too cold and windy. We went to the shooting range instead. I'm no marksman, but whenever I pictured Linden Avery as the target, I got a bulls-eye. ;) LOL!!!

God, is it just me or were the ads (which took over both the TV and the radio) especially toxic this year? The worst one was for one of the judicial races. The opponent was running ads that the candidate was "soft on rappers, lawyers, and child pornographers". No one I have talked to knows...
