Warcraft - Oh Yes!

Post by peter »

Warcraft has absolutely nothing whatsoever to recommend it. The plot is thin, the charachters shallow and one dimensional and the acting mediocre at best. The 'game to film' jonah has struck again in the production of this instantly forgetable piece of cinematic excrement. I loved it.

If you want to see a video game franchise which was successfully and correctly translated to film, go seek out Nuka Break. It captures the world of Fallout successfully and has lots of references to Fallout 3 but the show itself is set closer to the Mojave of Fallout New Vegas.

Warcraft was pretty middling but I don't think it was bad, per se. I enjoyed it. I would not object to the franchise continuing; hopefully the acting improves a little, though.

Agreed Murrin, there was indeed some guilty pleasure to be had there  .

I'm going to see it mainly for the sake of the steaming hawt, buff Orcs. Uuuffff, those massive, bulging muscles and powerful hairy chests... *fans self*
I can vouch for the two other girls in the company sharing this opinion. :P

......or in Frosty's case some very guilty pleasure! ;)

(In the same vein, how did they make that Orc girl so hot!)

Yeah, critics are savaging this flick, which is too bad because it's from Duncan Jones, Bowie's son who also did Moon, which I liked quite a bit. While I don't have any emotional ties to Warcraft (I always found the plots of the games pretty uninteresting), I was hoping they could have at least made the movie better since the CGI does not look horrid. Seems like after Lord of the Rings, it's all been downhill (which sadly I add the Hobbit movies to as well, even though they've probably been the best thing since). Ok, yeah, Game of Thrones. Point taken.
But when the hell are we going to get Covenant? It doesn't make sense to me.

I probably wouldn't bother if I didn't play, but I'll probably see it. My guild is going as a group this weekend but I opted out since the event planner decided to go with 3D. 3D gives me migraines.
