Yeah, dunno how I feel about it really. I mean, I'll read it, but so much for "no more Harry books" huh?

Well, it's still a play that's being novelized. Does that count as a Harry book?

Yes, yes it does. :D She wrote it, and it's about Harry. Seems a bit exploitative what? ;)

Apparently, Jo had said "never say never" regarding writing about Harry last year sometime. Supposedly, now that Cursed Child has premiered, she is claiming that this is the last one to feature Harry. Did not say anything about writing about the next generation, though.

Speaking of Cursed Child, my hold at the library is in. Has anyone read it yet?

All I've seen is the "script" version, which I'm not really into...is there going to be a novelised version?

I haven't heard of a novelization, yet. This isn't even the "finalized" version; it's a "rehearsal" edition. Supposedly a final edition is coming out later.

Of course...let's sell the draft version and then the finalised version...

Read a review by a fan who was a bit disappointed, although mostly by stuff that was left out, and the pacing required by the format.

Well, Jo has said she feels a play is the only format for this story. As you implied above, making the script(s) available is more a franchise merchandising grab than anything else. But, I'm not going to judge completely until I have the opportunity to see a production myself.

From what I've seen so far, reviews of the production in the West End have been pretty stellar. So maybe Jo is right about the format.

I just finished. I must say I don't understand why Jo insists this story be told as a play, but I can see it being a pretty emotional ride for those who get to see a production.

I'd rather see it as a novel, with all the intervening bits told as well.
