I wonder if this rock song counts:
"Able" by NEEDTOBREATHE

I'm not sure if a 'heavy sound' is requisite, and... yeah, I don't know what counts.

That whole album of theirs has titles I am intrigued by and want to listen to.
"People without hope not only don't write novels, but what is more to the point, they don't read them.
They don't take long looks at anything, because they lack the courage.
The way to despair is to refuse to have any kind of experience, and the novel, of course, is a way to have experience."
-Flannery O'Connor

"In spite of much that militates against quietness there are people who still read books. They are the people who keep me going."
-Elisabeth Elliot, Preface, "A Chance to Die: The Life and Legacy of Amy Carmichael"

Ever wonder how Metallica's St. Anger would have sounded if the instruments hadn't sounded horrifyingly bad?

Well, here you go.

Here's the original album, for comparison.

Never really wondered anything about any of their albums after the Black Album, I just haven't liked any of it, but that's interesting...

Metallica ceased being interesting shortly after Cliff Burton died.

I've been either ignoring or trashing Metallica for decades, but I thought that movie/concert video they did was pretty good (available on Netflix, I forgot the title). Of course, lots of old material in it.

[Edit: I just listened to that St.Anger (original) for the first time. OH MY GOD THAT SNARE! What the hell were they thinking?]

I bought St. Anger when it came out in the hopes that it was a return to their Ride The Lightning/Master Of Puppets style.

Well, you can imagine my disappointment and confusion.

I just heard a progression downhill which quickened after the Black Album, so I never give anything else they release any hope at all.

I wouldn't have either except that I heard (or read? I forget now) something about the band saying that the album was going to be heavier and stuff, so I figured their flirtation with top 40 was over.

Well, I guess it was over. As far as I know they haven't had any more hit tunes since then ...

New from Ensiferum: youtu.be/uv0CRm94ObE
Album pre-ordered + tickets to a March concert. Some of the offers had the CD's bundled with these cute hoodies, so of course had to acquire one! It will look most dashing with a flowery skirt and high army boots. <3

Bloody Hel, new from Frosttide as well!

Tame softiemetal for peter who attempts to recover from a culture shock caused by some Finnish music. ;) No growls, no trolls, no Duck Satans, not much church burning, and most certainly no drunken copulation in these!
