For example, to visit an invocation that I was looking at earlier, if a Giant were present in Banas Nimoram, when the Unfettered One used some of the words to break up the Celebration of Spring, would they have heard the intention of the words? Or the literal translation of the words? Or some mixture of the two perhaps.
A) You must live! Free yourselves from the dance and survive! The Unfettered One wrote:"Melenkurion Abatha! Binas mill Banas Nimoram Khabaal! Melenkurion abatha! Abatha Nimoram!"
B) Bastion/Source endure! Mudpower invocation Heart of Andelain affirmation! Bastion/Source endure! Endure Heart/Andelain!"
(Mudpower since I'm pretty sure that the Unfettered One mis-spoke Binas in place of Minas, Earthpower.)
I'm inclined to believe that it's the intention of the words, rather than the literal definition, which might partially explain why the Giants didn't help the Lords understand Kevin's Wards - they simply were unable to translate, their gift of tongues removed the context of the words, and thus, their intended purpose could be confused or even misleading?
