you know Brinn, I was going to post something exactly the same yesterday, but thought I may have been just in a bad mood! But yes, I think RD maybe should just finish her/himself off and perhaps take some other like-minded individuals with them. ("voluntarily" of course) Less talk more action!!!!!!. Maybe it's the first time we have agreed on something. Hurrah!

I thought that people from Kevin's watch forum are more intelligent, sensible and polite. I was wrong. You're just like the others: making fun of, trying to offend me, telling me to commit suicide, etc.
This is my last post/visit on this website.
VHEMT isn't about suicide, don't you understand that?!?
It's about NOT BREEDING.
I, as a VHEMT Volunteer DON'T BREED.
I don't and won't have any kids.
VHEMT doesn't encourage suicide, but not breeding, being childfree.
Understood ?!

I disdain you.
I'm still proud of being a VHEMT Volunteer and will always be.

Down with human race, long live misanthropy!

What? we should agree with you? This place is about freedom of opinion. If we disagree, we disagree. Face it. You have to accept your opinions will be rejected because they are pretty extreme.

The problem with misanthropy is that it is at its core, stupid. I know, I used to be a misanthropist. Disliking the human race is weak and not a solution. The solution is expecting, hoping, or planning for the human race to improve. Misanthropy is giving up on humans. It's cowardly.

VHEM, at it's core, is all about removing human presence from Earth. You feel free to offer your views on the subject and I will feel free to offer mine.

What VHEM proposes (not breeding) is a half-measure designed to do what suicide or mass extinction accomplishes in a much more direct and timely fashion. If you're that certain of your views I would think that my response wouldn't be insulting. IMHO, it seems that you want your cake and to eat it as well. You feel it's alright for you to continue to enjoy your existence for however long you have left but that beyond that people should cease to exist (within a generation or so). Seems very convenient as it requires no sacrifice on your part. All I'm saying is that if your belief is that strong you might not object to immediate voluntary human extinction (suicide). Your thoughts RD?

Well, I don't go by RodAN anymore, but I'll gladly share my thoughts. I think that you've pretty much nailed it. I have no problem with the non-breeding of humans who are unwilling to carry on their family name. What I do take issue with is the supposition that ALL humans should agree and do likewaise. If you cannot see the fallacy of a part of nature trying to remove itself from nature in order to help the nature that it believes created it, then you deserve to be extinguished by nature.

I have a question...
If misanthropy is a hatred of humanity in general, what is hatred of people called? 'Cause I like humanity just fine, it's the people I can't stand.

...so many of them are just so stoopid....

Just for the record:

mis·an·thro·py
n.
Hatred or mistrust of humankind.

And I'm a misanthropist mainly because of hot pink, legwarmers, cheesy synth pop, big hair, and people who wear shirts that say "Mean People Suck". Also known as "the 80s".

Good grief! Revelstone dweller should think about lightening up. And I thought I was a curmudgeon! His claim that the folks at the Watch have an agenda against him is simply not credible. If he is going to hurl foolish accusations at websites he visits, then he deserves what he gets.

At least he's somewhat less prolific than his predecessor  Anyway, RD has declared his departure, so I think this is all pretty much over.

Give me a break. Or, even better, start using some of that 'survival tool' of yours. and ask yourself some interesting questions, like:

We need art and music. Why?

We need to explore everything we can, and that has led us to look at other galaxies, in hopes of one day reaching them. Why?

And finally, most importantly: If we become extinct, then who will run the VHEM site? :screwy:
Like I said before, humans are more advanced than their fellow creatures. They have the capacity for that stuff--exploration, etc. Dogs don't know anything but what's right before their nose. That's their survival. That's all that's important to them. We have civilization, which makes our survival a lot easier. It's almost secondary to our indulgences like art and music. Again, if animals had our brain power and understanding, they'd be forming religions--and probably filing lawsuits against their owners for chaining them up.

And if we became extinct, VHEM would no longer need to be under supervision, as its mission would be completed. Simple.

They know that killing themselves isn't even a drop in the bucket. Spreading the message is a far more effective measure.

We shall never understand the natural environment until we see it as a living organism. Land can be healthy or sick, fertile or barren, rich or poor, lovingly nurtured or bled white. Our present attitudes and laws governing the ownership and use of land represent an abuse of the concept of private property.... Today you can murder land for private profit. You can leave the corpse for all to see and nobody calls the cops.
Paul Brooks, The Pursuit of Wilderness (1971)

Every living thing is a sort of imperialist, seeking to transform as much as possible of its environment into itself.
Bertrand Russell (1872 - 1970)

Probably the mullet. And Jesus most likely didn't have long hair.
