Given the emphasis SRD has placed (in other works) on the perils of unearned knowledge/power, giving Estie the reciprocal ability of Facile's would present some interesting possibilities.

An excerpt from TWW that supports the idea of Estie being able to gift sorcery to others...or maybe a gift to amplify anyones sorcery??..with a hint of possible seeing in to the future..Remember her father knows she has the gift but she doesn't in this scene where Estie learns what the Deal is from her drunk father:
Spoiler
She wished that he would look at her,but he did not. Instead, he seemed interested only in her hands. He held them, stroked them, as if they had the power to give him what he wanted. What he needed.
Its a stand alone paragraph in the middle of the dramatic revelations and sad understanding of her father and his gift
If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.

Nice catch, Lurch!

So very like SRD to plant clues that only make sense in retrospect...

But how would that tie in with Estie's dad later living alone in the woods after the Seventh Decimate was reversed? If he wanted something from Estie, it wasn't on display.

With the alliance between Amica and Beleger, the Last Repository's quashing of the talents of the local magisters ended and Smegin could again access the decimate of lightning. He withdrew to his wooded retreat and proceeded to hone his powers to previously-unknown levels of control. As TF recently pointed out in the Estie thread, it is an interesting question whether this was solely from practice or if he was aided.

In any case, the need for the talent he sensed in his daughter became less primary than when he was entirely bereft of his decimate.

Estie's father knows she has the gift, but does he know what the gift is? Was a Magister in his court able to discern it?

Facile claimed she could not discern what the nature of Estie's gift was, but her testimony may not have been entirely forthcoming.

Nor do we know whether her percipience is bettered by that of other Magisters with different talents...and different training philosophies.
