Tell it to the Bees.

Annabelle Jankel's odd little tale about the illicit love between two women in 1950's Scotland is both wrenching and heart warming in equal measure. I'm not going to spoil the film by saying too much about it, but the story involves the relationship between the young son of one of the said women and a hive of bees that he forms an odd bond with. The tale in the vicinity goes that in order to keep a hive of bees from up and offing you should tell them a secret. The lad takes this to heart and as the problems in his life multiply and gather complexity (not least resulting from his confusion about what he thinks might be going on between the two women and the close knit and narrow minded community's response to it) he has ever more secrets to impart. In one short scene of mystical realism the tone of the film changes- and the result is really quite magical. I recommend it.
The truth is a Lion and does not need protection. Once free it will look after itself.

....and the glory of the world becomes less than it was....
'Have we not served you well'
'Of course - you know you have.'
'Then let it end.'
