Metronome, Alaska

Low, slow clouds. Absurd.
dissolving iron rain, brittle.
Acid traces. Phospheresence,
slate shade, the morning sky.
Buried under tar and steel.
Ambient dust. You bury the
lede, as deep as the Atlantic
cable. Your life in April.
Thalidomide frost in spring.
Paris Green is summer.
Under a constant blue sun.
Thaumaturgic. Sour mash
trees in half moon, quarter
moon, all day dawn. Breaking.

Graphite shrubs, scrub brush
and marsh standing along in
salt pools. Charcoal brooks
wend, wind and oxbow along
lazily, haphazardly. Quietly.

Coves of neon glitter litter
aside the straits. Unevenly.
Tidepools. Stagnant, brackish.
By the tar plains, kites skitter.
Terns turn and flutter. Toxics,
oils and plastics amongst the
bleached white bones of saints,
prophets and early visionaries.

I love how the dismal background makes those few beauties "pop".

Yeah, a fine collection of well tuned discordance.
Had to look up oxbow, didn't know that word.

I think you missed an opportunity with the name of the city.

Something like:

Low, slow clouds. Absurd.
dissolving iron rain. Absurd.
Acid traces. Slate shade. Absurd.
Morning sky under tar and steel. Absurd.
Ambient dust. You bury the lede. Absurd.
As deep as the Atlantic cable. Absurd.

And so on.
