Ingredient of the Week... (help me to know how to use it)

Post by Linna Heartbooger »

My ingredient of the week is:

jalapenos.
Typically we just fry them in oil with onions and add that to... stuff we're eating.
Or we put them in an omelet.

any other suggestions?

Alternate ingredient of the week:
sweetened, condensed milk
I am always wishing I had an excuse to use it, but now I have some open and realize I don't know what to do with it.

Jalapeños

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers

Read the comments. They apparently take far longer to bake and get crispy then the recipe calls for.

Sweetened Condensed Milk

Tres Leche Cake
Vietnamese Suda
Thai Iced Tea

Or, if you have a pressure cooker, make dulche de leche and use it as caramel on ice cream, cheese cake, brownies...

Mmm. I like these ideas.
(also, we have ice cream.)

KNEW I was forgetting something!
I *love* Thai Iced Tea.
Remember being amazed when someone told me sweetened condensed milk was the secret ingredient.

the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers sound yum but I know they won't happen here.
combination of "seems like a lot of trouble" + we just don't buy bacon lately, (like for the last 5 years?) even though it is yum.

null- ahh, great idea!

Gotta go walk & pick Juneberries... they are our Other other "ingredient of the week," but I know what to do with those!

[Edit: Full disclosure - did not pick Juneberries.]
