Ugh....tried reviving this thread to share some of some recent joys, but after typing it all up and hitting submit, it had me log in and I lost it all. Such a waste of time. Ok, here we go again.
First up is AJR. They are a band my daughter turned me onto. They have been described by others I've shared with of having a touch of They Might Be Giants, but I hear more Fun, only they are more fun than Fun. And with a hint of Disney movie music, strangely enough. They are very creative and funny and heartbreaking at times. I dig the hell out of them.
Their live performances are worth looking up as they have lots of tricks here and there, and it looks like a blast. They are coming to Denver in June 2022, and we bought tickets and I firmly believe I will only be there in spirit, but I want the fam to have a coming together for a great show, and my wife has a friend that I got into the band as well, so he'll take my spot at the show.
Here's the radio hit song that my 9 year old daughter played for me that got me interested enough to check other stuff which then inspired me to take a chance and buy their CDs.
Bang!

Here is a song that listening to the album just struck me as very strange musically, and one of my favorites of theirs:
Don't Throw Out My Legos

I love the lyrics on this, and took me a couple listens to work out what the situation is:

Strangely enough, I'm going to request that this song be played at the end of my funeral. Sorry to get morbid, but I've lost a lot of tears over the end of this song, thanks to the following lyrics:
I think it’s time to go now
I think my curtain’s falling
Just don’t forget about me
When you get out of college
If it’s my final album
And if I am forgotten
I hope I made you smile
That’s all I ever wanted
Finale

Trying not to post too much (3 O'Clock Things is another that I just love, but am leaving out), they do these Making Of videos that are fun, and I'll end AJR with this for Bang!:

Moving on, I came across this band (Daisy The Great) because of AJR with the following:

But this is my favorite of what I have explored from them, as the lyrics really blow me away:

And this lead me to this musician, Sidney Gish. I'll only post one of her songs, which is my favorite of what I've come across so far, although there are several other great ones:

Finally, I guess he is getting his time in the limelight at the moment, but I've been loving Bo Burnham for a while. If you've not come across him yet, you should. His show on Netflix is called Inside and it really knocked me out on so many levels. He's become a multi-hyphenate, but I think this is the best song I've heard this year, and the heart of the special.

Enjoy!

Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life
