do I have to carry the whole Watch upon my back?

Post by peter »

I've tried Sarge.

I've (on occasion - not an invasive barrage, I hasten to add) contacted people via PM, but to no effect. Not being a social media user (in terms of Facebook, Twitter etc) I have no other point of contact. Granted - I'm not the biggest attraction to bring people thronging back to the Watch (sound of the world's smallest violin playing in the background ;) ) but a little memory jog here and there of good times past can't hurt.

I'm not sure if the Watch in its new manifestation still sends out post notifications via email (if this could make a difference). If it does, then posting on some older topics that people were following in the past might reawaken old loyalties.

Worth a try maybe?

Please no?
Problems with the registration process kept me from joining the Watch for months (update: over three years since first attempt). Had I not stumbled upon the Discord info, I never would have gotten here. I just found some artwork tonight - and of a far higher quality than I dared hope. And there's an extensive list of posts I still want to read - and maybe have a thought about?

I'd like to think SRD's works are still being read. Or heard. There's so much information and history here; it's a little overwhelming. Abandonment may not be the best solution. If there is certainty that re-engagement will never occur, perhaps there's a better channel/forum to be considered?

Before taking non-engagement as absence of interest, can we find alternate measurements? Maybe find a way to discover and count failed registrations? Look at SRD book sales?

And maybe find ways to better market the Watch's existence?

People were unable to register for probably several months before we realized it. Thought it was a dry spell until we tried to register another account. Upgrading to phpBB3 fixed that.
