If you liked Manos let me recommend "Plan 9 from Outer Space" which is another classic!
My theatre company is adapting Plan 9 into a musical. If it remains on schedule, it should open in October. It looks like it's going to be absoloutely hilarious.

Okay here goes:

Sci Fi: Star Wars (original trilogy, I'm not so enthused about the new ones), The Matrix, The Fifth Element
Action: The Die Hard movies
Horror: the Alien movies (all), the Blair Witch Project
Western: Tombstone, Silverado
Fantasy: both LOTR movies (and most likely the third as well), Ladyhawke, Labyrinth, Legend
Comedy: Office Space, Dogma, Mallrats, Four Rooms
Drama: Schindlers List, Requiem for a Dream, Trainspotting, American History X
Mystery: The Others
Mob/gangs: Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs
Sports: er, blech
Music: Chicago, Moulin Rouge, The Sound of Music, Hair, any old Disney musical
Animation: Akira, Wizards, Ralph Bakshi's LOTR movies
Kids Movies: Shrek, Lilo and Stitch, Monsters inc.
Stand-up: All George Carlin, Robin Williams at Carnegie Hall, Bill Cosby Himself, all Richard Pryor
Chick Flick: The Hours, Fried Green Tomatos, Steel Magnolias
Guy Flick: Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (I personally thought this was just about the stupidest thing I'd ever seen, but watching my husband and his friends watch it was really funny. My husband was crying he was laughing so hard. Must be a guy thing.) :? lol
Crappiest movie ever made: Orgy of the Dead
Foreign: Amelie, Run Lola Run, About a Boy (hey, it's a British film)
All time favs: LOTR, Schindlers List

Wow B&B! That's an interesting project!

BTW, I noticed on another thread that you are a big fan of the Dark Tower Series. I am a huge fan as well and can't wait for "Wolves of Calla". Have you had a chance to read the prologue that was published on his website? I think It's called Calla Brynn Sturgis and it's great. Nice to see another Tower fan and good luck with Plan 9! 8)

Thanks Brinn, Maybe I'll publish the review when it goes up. I have read the Wolves of the Calla prologue, and I'm annoyed that I can't read "The Tale of Gray Dick" an excerpt from the same book that's only available in a magazine called Timothy McSweeney's Quarterly Concern that I can't afford a subscription to. According to the official website though, we should see the remaining three books before the end of next year, With Wolves coming out (limited edition hardback as per the others) in November of this year. Also, the first four are being re-released in hardback in June, with the Gunslinger having been revamped with an additional 35 pages!
Here's a link to the Dark Tower news section of the official website.

"Double Trouble" about twin brother gynoecologists?!?!!

Was David Cronenberg's "Dead Ringers" also about twin brother Gynoecologists, released under a different name?

Oh no! I left out the Harry Potter movies!

And as far as Shakespeare: Titus, w/ Anthony Hopkins and Glenn Close is the best! Really visually stunning. Except for the artsy fartsy intro...
.... A Midsummer Nights Dream, with Michelle Pfeifer and Kevin Kline....Othello, with Lawrence Fishburn and Kenneth Brannaugh....anything with Kenneth Brannaugh(Hamlet!)....the Fifteen Minute Hamlet....ooohh, and Rosencrantz and Gildenstern Are Dead....

You just had to bring up Shakespeare didn't you?  :faint:

Okay. Got the title wrong. Dead Ringers it is, then. (Really beat myself over the head on that one)

Be warned--Shakespeare is a big subject with moi.

Oh, and Titus had Jessica Lange, not Glenn Close. Good movie, though. I thought Midsummer didn't really work, although some individual things worked very well indeed. Kevin Kline was the best Hamlet I've ever seen, period. Way better than Olivier, imo.

well Zahir, this was on the stage, not in the movies and way back in 1973-but the best damm Hamlet I ever saw, and I kno this is hard 2 believe, was a skinny Stacey Keach. The stage effects were intense and Keach was absolutely mesmerising!

Danlo, I've nothing but respect for Stacey Keach, so the thought of his Hamlet being good doesn't surprise. Intrigues, but not surprise.

The worst Hamlet I ever saw was in NYC, with Dirk Benedict in the title role. Really.

Incidently, did you know there's been a tendency in productions of Hamlet during the last couple of decades to have Ophelia give away anything but flowers during her "mad" scene? One production had her giving away long brass nails. The Kline production had her giving away pieces of Hamlet's shredded love letters.
