That's a shame. You were a prolific contributor...enough so that I don't have the moxie (pun intended) to track down what caused you to leave...but I expect that it was the Decline and Fall fora, the parallel groups to what are the GCES (nee Tank) here. You asked to join in all amity. Was it your posts, authentic to your views, that led to your exit? Might you return...and just omit interaction in fora where you are not willing to participate?

Long has Menolly just ignored Mallory, the Tank, GCES, etc...but been a consistent Watcher. Such is also her habit in the Discord. As just as much a long time member of this community (who finally made the technical leap to the Discord), must you turn away from this newer platform?

Well folks, if you see this, you'll know we're having some server issues.

The site is up and down, but when it's up it's incredibly slow.

We're hoping the issue will resolve itself again, and are looking into alternatives, just in case.

It’s a sad truth that some views are more welcomed
in the GCES/Tank … alas there are more Watchers who’s allegiances align more closely with US conservatism … indeed one could even posit it is an echo chamber of such views but not all mediums are the same.

The Discord channel seems to be more diverse in global membership & arguably more liberal than conservative ~ hence occassionally discordance lol

It’s easier to be a conservative among majority conservatives than a conservative minority among a more liberal thinking majority.

I tried. I was very civil and apologized for any and all past
Transgressions. Even though with one fellow watcher I can't
Recall the transgression and did come here to look it up and failed
To find it. And I did a deep dive.

I was accused of a sin. And though no proof of said sin was offered other than associative, I was convicted. And someone I thought of as a friend for 20 years not connected to the discussion dropped me as a friend.

I left the discord. Almost left the Wstch. Two people convinced me to rejoin the discord sans the politics.

So I post comics. Music. Fluff.

I have an opera to review while Julie is at school.

I'm only up because the feral cats we feed were fighting so the puppies woke up and woke me up.

Ahh it was not as black & white as all that tho lol and no one made you leave ~ that was your choice my friend.

Discord is a welcome place for all but know that not all views are the same … liberal thinking folk contend with conservative views here … and you experienced what you may have considered the reverse in the Discord channel … and I’m afraid it’s a sad reality alas … that political views from opposite ends of the spectrum mix like oil & water …

It can be very challenging to contend with views that are not widely shared or especially when it comes to topics that involve foreigners and negative views regarding them blur lines into perceptions of racism & bigotry.

Av is the mod/admin as it’s his Discord … and the discussion was imo typical & along the same lines as most civil political discourse.

Your input at various junctures was fairly challenged - essentially you weren’t agreed with … that’s part & parcel of political discourse tho isn’t it?

You chose to leave … and you chose to return … and the Discord community remains the same, welcoming, fun, civil channel it was created as & intended to be.

It’s easier to be a conservative among majority conservatives than a conservative minority among a more liberal thinking majority.

It seems to be human nature. When you have a group that thinks relatively alike and posts together often and someone with an opposing view steps in, the majority side jumps in and starts posting why the other view is wrong. They feed off each other and makes it difficult for the minority view to catch up. The one or two people with the opposing view feels a bit ostracized. They get ganged up on, so to speak. So eventually they leave for where their views are more in lockstep with the majority or what they consider "mainstream".
