Why doesn't KW have a chat?

Post by Worm of Despite »

I agree with you, Foul. It would be great to have a chat room!

Actually, High Lord Jay does have a chatroom. He has a message on it saying to let him know when a good time is for people to meet and he can open it up for people. :D

I tried the chat, and it looks okay. But no one was there so it quickly became boring.

Maybe it should be re-adjusted to be fit at the top, like Ahira. I'm sure the chat will have its empty moment, but it might also have its full like your favorite tavern-like moments!

How do you get to Jay's chat room?

And what is this quick reply thing at the bottom?

(Maybe I better look around the watch first for the answer to that one!)

Quick Reply allows you to quickly add a reply....just type in the message box and away you go :)

I have entered the chat thing if you need any further detail :)

Heh, yeah, I added a chat to the Kevin's Watch main page a while back. It's gotten a little use. But the problem is getting everyone into the chat at one time. I like this new one better. Maybe we can work out a bigger/easier to notice link for it?-jay

There's 4 of us here now. I'm in the room.

Crazy idea, but any way we can link this chat to an IRC server?

'Cause then I could use mIRC (great flexibility and such for chatting) to get to it, stay permanently logged on, log the conversations, etc.

It might be pretty difficult to set up, though. The best example I can use is www.scifi.com/farscape/chat which can also be reached with an IRC client at events.scifi.com , port 6667 . I know Fist had/has a channel on Dalnet called #Revelstone... yep, it's still registered with Chanserv.

*shrug*

I love to chat. :)

MsMary, I've been told one of the best times to find people in there is early morning our time when people pile in before leaving for work . I often see people in there around 9-11PM our time as well...

Late at night seems to be the best time to find people on the KW chat. Our friends down under are active there in the early am hours here. :)

A lot of time if someone's in the mood to talk they'll send out pm's to everyone they see online to try to round everyone up, too. Obviously, sometimes not everyone can make it, but often you can find one or two chatting buddies. :)

I've used it once, and no offense Danlo--it's a lot faster than ours! Still, I like IMs more...
