Of those, the only one I'm familiar with is Blind Guardian.

You, sir, are a true devotee of Metal. If you would like to create your own Metal review thread, I'd be glad to sticky it (same goes to anybody else that is dedicated to a particular genre).
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

It's true - I am a Heavy Metal Maniac! :) Thanks, I'd like my own review thread, but I just don't have the time to sit down and review the albums I buy anymore. You see, my personal reviews and analysis of Metal albums tend to be a bit long ... and I find many people don't like that style of review anymore. Plus, I have so many great albums, I wouldn't even know where to start ...

Honestly ... I'd prefer to discuss Metal bands the rest of you people like, then I can make recommendations based on your likes/dislikes - which can oft-times be much more helpful than having to read a 5000-word review.

Having that said ... if there was a particular Metal album that you guys/gals want me to review, let me know and I'll write up some of my thoughts and opinions if I have access to the album. Sound good?

My prob is I don't really go looking for new metal--most new stuff I'm familiar with I get off the alt rock station. And from some reason it's not super alt, or indie. Here's a list of what little I've picked off it and stuck with: GWAR (based on my older sis' recommendation), Tool (and thanks Syl!), System of a Down, Rob Zombie, Weezer and some other random stuff like: Sonic Youth, Static-X, Staid, Deftones, A Perfect Circle, QoftheSA, etc...and one or two songs by the likes of ICP, Flaming Lips, Korn, Black Flag...

Stuff I've always been into: Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Bush, Metallica, Godsmack, STP, Cracker, Offspring, Primus, Panthera, (some:) Motorhead, Megadeth, and (one or two, the rest can be pretty awful:) Helmet.

So see I'll pretty generic, sorry, but always open...I'm old  and old school and for the most part would perfer to hear Neil Young, Joe Satriani, Stevie Vai, Jeff Beck, John McGlaughlin, John Cippolina and Hendrix guitar solos most of the time...
fall far and well Pilots!

I Mother Earth are most definitely NOT Heavy Metal ... not even by a long-shot. I'd suggest that they are nothing more than the Canadian contingent of the dying post-Grunge Alternative movement that has slowly been swept aside by the bubble-gum Punk trend ... which in my mind, is equally loathesome. But - that's just one man's opinion, right? if you like IME, all the power to ya - yet I must demand that you cease calling them Metal.

Anyway, Despiser! I love ROOT, MEGIDDO, and have being trying like Hell to find the new DEATHSPELL OMEGA album, as well as the new ROOT "Madness of the Graves" CD ... I'll have to find some Polish Metalheads who can send me over a copy or two!

Nice to see another Black Metal fan here! Hails War-Brother!

Oh well, I like them. 8)
The only other band that I'm into that might be concidered metal is Dream Theater.
....But I'm also really into Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Marley, and Vivaldi, so I'm proebely not the best judge of metal.
