DVDs and YOU!
Just wondering what DVDs you guys watch . . .
Oh yeah, someone in my family, as a graduation present, bought me The Godfather DVD box set. I still haven't gotten around to watching it, because I don't care for shoot-'em-up pictures.

Oh, I can watch just about anything except if its too violent. The main we watch repeatedly though, is Fellowship of the Ring, in both its forms. Pretty much every day my kids don't have school or wrestling tournaments one or both will watch it.
I'm really glad they have finally set a release date for the Two Towers! Fresh Meat!!

I have the theatrical and the extended versions of LOTR DVD. I love listening to the commentaries on the extended - pity there's no Viggo in the commentary though.
Blue Velvet, Blair Witch Project, Band O f Brothers (boxset), 24 1st season (boxset) Psycho (with Vince Vaughan and Anne Heche), A Perfect Murder and ABBA - The Winner Takes It All are my favourites thus far.
DVDs I intend asking Santa for include:
TTT theatrical and Extended
Harry Potter 1 & 2
Star Wars Episodes 1 & 2
Walking with Dinosaurs
Walking with Beasts
But I'm always on the lookout for more

I rarely buy DVDs (so far only good films I have that I bought are Evolution and LotR), but my dad gets a lot of the latest films soon after they come out (I'll be watching Matrix Reloaded pretty soon).
Today I watched 28 Days Later, and it is an amazing film. The opening is great - they had to totally close off central London to film that sequence.

I only buy DVDs that I know I will watch many times.
(or childrens classics that will be watched again and again...)
I have bought:
The Godfather I & II (listening Foul?)
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory (listening Infelice? ha ha.)
The sound of music
Goodfellas
Yellow submarine (wunderbar)
LOTR
Wicker man
Beavis & Butthead 3 disc set
Wizard of Oz
this can't be more than a twentieth. I ramble. I go now.

The Matrix

Eagles - Hell Freezes Over.......What painful memories that tour brings back ....... I sat on the phone all day to buy tickets to that concert and got them in the end .... only to have to give them away as I had to go into hospital the day before the concert.
I'd love to get that DVD to help make up for what I missed out on.

The reason we got a DVD player in the first place is because we wanted Twin Peaks season 1 on DVD because the VHS quality on those is abyssmal. So That was the first thing we got. Since then we've aquired several more, my favorites being:

Amelie
Six Feet Under season 1
Chicago
Moulin Rouge
Lilo and Stitch
Planet of the Apes box set
Harry Potter 1&2

Toy Story 1&2
But some of my favorites are also on VHS:
Schindler's List - This one too.
American Beauty
the Terry Gilliam trilogy - TB, BM, and HG
Magnolia
Ladyhawke
Trainspotting
Ever After
Run Lola Run
The Straight Story
Rushmore
Fight Club
Titus
The Wall
Pulp Fiction
most of David Lynch's movies
and many more.
