I think this was talked about in TPTP, by Mohram, when he told Covenant the reason for Lord Foul using Elena to wield the staff for him. I may be wrong but i'll have a stab: Is it simply because it doesn't suit his style or malevolence/nature or something. Nah that sounds lame doesn't it? God i can a lmost remember the conversation,.... am i even along the right lines or is there a more direct answer?

Kevin, I think you are nearly on it. I remember something along the lines of "...a Power not apt for his use...."
btw - what part of the auld sod are you a son of.
I am a Donegal man, living in Sligo & working (this minute) in Leitrim., so I got the North West well covered.

Hail man of westernesse, an irish warrior like myself eh? Good to know there are others here and interested in SD's works. I'm a Belfast(WEST Belfast actually) man myself and am very patriotic bacause of it.
I work in my home city as a civil servant, but i'm an outdoors man at heart, hence the green roaming hills in my Avatar. I've been to Donegal a fair few times, but not sligo or Leitrim. What do you do in Leitrim? And is it a nice place?

Snap!
I'm a Public Servant (as we say here), work for the Health Service Executive as an IT Project Manager.
Leitrim is wild and beautiful.... but not a patch on Donegal.

This was in the Illearth War:
"the Staff is unsuited to his hands" AND NOT "in any way adept for his uses"....
Elena said something like this to Covenant when he was sure Foul was behind the using of the 7th ward...
(Hey, I am rereading the whole Chronicles and just read this last week...)

Khat, you are correct! Whooohooooo! Elena said something to the effect that the Staff would resist Lord Foul's every touch, and he would "suffer the same fate as Drool Rockworm."
OK! <rubbing hands together> Let's come up with another one, shall we?
How many towers guarded the entrance to Foul's Creche, and what did they resemble?

Congrats Man of Westernesse, i also once worked for our Health services Department. However now i work in the Benefit Uptake Department(unemployment, Disability, Carer's, things like that).
Basically it means i'm sort of working for the British Gov't, but hey i'm giving their money away, and anyway if you can't smash 'em up, bring 'em down from the inside right? LOL(sorry to all you Brit's here, but it's my sworn duty, i'm an Irishman, ggrrrrrrrrrr).
Anyway i'll have to visit the wild and lovely Leitrim one day. Back to the forum for now. Oh have you guy's all read the "soap" topic, funny or what? I'll have a guess at two tower's MrKABC i think they were very thin and set atop the small stately entrance to Ridgeck Thome, but i can't for the life of me emember what they resembled(spires or something?). Anyone else?

It really does help that I am reading the Chronicles all over again!

You answered the last one Khat', that means it's your turn to ask. <smile>.
"For one more moment, he stood still, staring at the pattern woven into the shoulders of her shift. Then a flood of revelations crashed through him, and he understood. He stumbled ....His stomach churned, and he gagged, trying to heave up his emptiness"
OK - well this thread IS SUPPOSED TO be about Runes:: Therefore name the three characters who belonged together, but did something that no person their type has ever done before...
