are we "showing our age", or "dating ourselves"?
yes.

and why not, i say! i don't have a problem with my age...well
ok, twice now i've actually FORGOTTEN how old i am!!! hahaha!
when it was time for my 45th, i thought i was going to be 44!! that was a rude awakening as i didn't have the whole 44th year to prepare to be 45 becase i though i was 43 for 2 years!!
then, this past august, i told a younger friend of mine that i would be 48 on my birthday, and he said really?, weren't you born in 1958? yes, says i, well, then, he replies, you're only going to be 47!
all the whole year i was 46, i was telling everyone i was 47!!
i am mathmatically challenged.
i think forgetting your age is a good thing!!!

besides, i really meant it. just because i'm 47 doesn't mean i'm not still 17 or 24 or 12 or 36. all thoses lucimays are still here!

I refuse to tell people my actual birthday, they tell me theirs just so I can buy them drinks at a stripclub or some such. seems too "self interested" to me, I guess. I choose a more "momentary" celebration, and every moment I ever met was always "young".Albert Einstein
People like you and I, though mortal of course like everyone else, do not grow old no matter how long we live...[We] never cease to stand like curious children before the great mystery into which we were born. letter to Otto Juliusburger

Your only as old as you feel (as I say)
Today, I'm pushing 90
Today, I'm pushing 90

Heh (and I made my feelings known about King Awful (and Keira Knightly) in the movie forum). I have always been and will always be 22... even if 30 is less than two years away.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

The great thing about getting older is that you don't lose all the other ages you've been.
