!!!!!!!! Accusing the Haruchai of no sense of humor?!?!? Of all the...

Oh, wait a sec...

Hey, I didn't promise you laughter when you beamed me up!!!

And I must say, spending the first 80 hours in your zero-gravity room, learning how to function without gravity, and trying to get a few basic ideas for applying our martial arts in this situation, was thrilling beyond words!!

No, Ur-Chico. (At least not in my opinion. Corruption might disagree.) But who's to say the same principle that prevents banes from spontaneously destroying themselves isn't what prevents good powers from doing the same?

OK, this avatar is from a Magic card called Rush of Knowledge. The saying on it is:

Limitless power is glorious until you gain limitless understanding.

A shame Elena had not gained limitless understanding before using the limitless might. Kevin probably did not have limitless understanding, but he had enough to know better than to use the Power of Command.

but elena was screwed up coz of her little mind joinin with the ranyhyn (who i think used her as a tool 2 strike @ fangthane but thats another story), & coz of her mum & grandparents (thank god she had triok).

i was thinkin that i would command the illearth stone to resist LF. mite work.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

That brings up a question for me: why was the Illearth Stone so
darn powerful? Was it a corruption of the Earthpower itself or was
it a separate power source?

i always saw it as either a corruption or an opposite of the earthpower. jus as despite & wild magic r enemies, so r illearth & earthpower. i guess that this comes from the idea that sumthin cant exist unless its opposite exists. there is sum evidence of this, such as the ur-viles & the waynhim, but not a lot.

absolutely!! Kevin should have known better and Elena did not possess sufficient maturity and wisdom to act in better faith. She was naive to think she could command the return of Kevin .. of all people .. from the dead and there be no consequences ..

made for a good plot twist .. but apart from that .. it was totally irresponsible and she was warned .. but she would not be deterred .. seems like Elena had more than just issues .. she was suffering delusions of grandeur to boot ..

Right? Spouting off "Melenkurion abatha! Ward yourself well, Fangthane! I seek to destroy you!" After he stopped laughing, Foul's response was probably, "Oh, I'm scared, I'm scared!!"

once again i leap 2 her defence, she was insane!

sure she didnt present as being insane, but that horserite thing mucked her up. the ranyhyn wanted 2 strike @ fangthane, & sensed in her the means 2 do it. so they joined their minds with hers and implanted in her a number of things, including an utter hatred of LF that surpassed anything the other lords felt, and the ability to do anundivian yajna. notice that she often calls TC ringthane.

it is also mentioned that the ranyhyn adored kevin. that would explain her pre-occupation with him. it is entirely possible that the idea 2 summon him from the dead came out of an unrealistic perception of kevin that elena picked up during the horserite of kelenbrabanal, a perception so deeply ingrained that she could not accept that it may b wrong.
