This is from Return Of The Jedi:
C-3PO: In his belly you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over a thousand years.

I'm sorry, but a thousand years? I think I'd come up with a new definition for "blasting my way out of his belly before I grow old and die of boredom" instead.

I have to defend 3PO in this instance since he is simply translating what Jabba has said though it is George Lucas who is responsible at the end of the day.
What is more likely is that you would be swallowed, die of asphyxiation, starvation or your body would be dissolved to the point of death in a matter of hours. If it is true that you would be digested over a thousand years your awareness of that fact would desert you in a much shorter period of time than it seems Jabba would have you believe.

In any event, I doubt you'd have the time to ponder up new definitions for anything, which was the basic point of my post.

On that point I think we are in agreement.

I'd like to offer up any and all dialog written for Highlander II to be worst dialog ever.

I'll see your Highlander II and raise you Starship Troopers & Dune.

Though there were quite a few duds in Starship Troopers I didn't have a problem with the dialog in Dune.

But I think I can raise you Battlefield Earth, Catwoman and Supergirl.

You're right; it wasn't the dialogue in Dune, it was the horrible delivery, and frankly, that's the strength of the movie. I raise you all the C3PO "losing my head" gags in Episode II. And I mean 'gag' as in 'it makes me gag every time I hear it'.

You know, I actually like Starship Troopers, but I think I would've picked the hot redhead over Denise Richards.

Hmm. I think you might be suffering from Gingervitis, where you opt out of the more attractive option, choosing instead to go for the more attainable one.

I find myself agreeing with dAN. Though I found the Denise Richard character far more annoying than that of the other girl I can't argue with which one promised to be the more attractive option.

If you find a beautiful woman to be annoying, then one of two things has happened: 1) You are related to her, most likely through marriage; or 2) Some stupid writer messed up the script horribly.

Really? Perhaps Paul Atreides was badly played, as well as some of the others, but Sting's portrayal of Feyd was great, and Baron Harkonnen goes down as one of the top screen villains of all time.

:haha:

Well, aside from the fact that the redhead in question was an incredibly hot redhead (redheads start at 3 on the 1-10 scale) everyone knows that a man should choose that which is attainable over that which produces enough drama to cause misery.

Now don't get me wrong, Denise Richards is hot (see the classic Undercover Brother for more information.) I'm just saying that she put Casper van Diem's character through the emotional roller coaster, and he should've told her to hit the road.

Of course, none of what I just wrote proves anything except clarifies my own thoughts and theories, and provides proof that I will never be a Hollywood screenwriter.

While I enjoyed Starship Troopers, I could not stand the characters.

My husband and I had a long discussion over this very matter after we saw the movie.

Choice:

a hot looking member of the opposite sex who wants you and adores you and will do anything for you

or

a hot looking but cold blooded member of the opposite sex who treats you like sh*t

I still prefer the Sci-Fi channel mini-series over David Lynch's version.

I admit that the sci-fi channel was good, I just thought that Baron Harkonnen was weak; the way they shot it made it look as though it was a Batman villain set from the 60s series. Have to admit, though, Ian McNeice is a great actor.

I do.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”
