I got it when it first came out. It's a lot of fun but it doesn't quite have the lifespan I'd expect from a Sid Meier title. Within a few plays all I had left to do was find the lost city and capture a Ship of the Line (and I've never even seen one of those). I wonder if they're planning on releasing an expansion at some point.

Yeah, I'm noticing that the original was longer and more difficult. Still, the land battles in particular vastly improved, and I like having more influence in wooing the various daughters of governors.
Still, I was prepared for it being relatively short. I read a review that recommended thinking of it as a succession of short games rather than one game. I always returned to the original Pirates just for the fun of being a pirate, and I might do the same with this pne - though I suspect the original, being more challenging, will probably outlast it.
