I would think you would welcome this one, since you said you missed two full episodes and part of two more.sgtnull wrote:hate clip shows. but excited about the last few eps. thanks Sin.
I happen to agree, I rarely bother with these clips episodes, and most likely won't bother with this one either (although, maybe I will watch it)

'Lost' Actress Chooses Jail Over Service
And I gotta say, I'd make the same choice. 240 hours of community service is over thirty days start to finish. I'd rather get it over quickly, especially with the treatment she's likely to get.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Heck, she could make some handy friends in jail too! Go Michelle!!
I'd do the same. Five days of R&R as opposed to 30 days 'community' service...yeah, right. That's the 'community officers' jobs.

We just saw the "monster" episode last night. All that noise and destruction from a puff of smoke? Disappointed. I wanted more teeth!

^ Sarge:
So the monster is the exhaust of a particularly old and not very well serviced Toyota Hi-lux?
Thing is, fule prices are not a laughing matter...time to switch to horses as alternative transport again? That'd f**k up the oil company's dang profit margin!

Don't see many Edsels in Oz...come to think of it, not many in the South Pacific region at all!
Someone made a comment somewhere that it sounds like the New York subway...the cranking noise sounds more like someone manually winding a heavy anchor chain to me!

Well, they wrapped a LOT of concrete round something...there are rumors of some kind of nuclear crap behind it...perhaps that's the reason for the code being entered every 108 mins? Cooling rod "incident"? Chernobyl with coconuts?

The Eko episode? Not sure if you're aware or not, as it wasn't really visible on a regular old TV, but, with an HDTV you can see Eko's life flashing before his eyes in it, images such as his brother, a church, a cross or Jesus. I think John LOcke saw Helen, and that's why it was "The most beautiful thing ever". I think there's more to it than just what we saw. I don't think what we saw accounts for the noises. I think the smoke is a "Smokescreen"
Actually, I think they're more sub-terranean, Sarge...
I did see those 'flashbacks', sind. I'm agreeing with you on that count, but perhaps it's more of a 'judge' of character? It didn't seem overly fond of the pilot, so maybe he didn't have any 'redeeming' qualities...

How do you know it wasn't "overly fond of the Pilot" ?
1. We don't know if the bloody corpse in the tree was the Pilot or the Copilot. Never seen the monster actually kill anyone, except Scott (or Steve?) maybe because he had every bone in his body broken, which is unlikely that Ethan could've done in such a short period of time. (and that's only a guess, because we didn't see him get killed)
2. We can't even be 100% sure that Eko's monster was indeed the monster from the Pilot, although I'm leaning towards it is.

1. This is true - but then, what hauled the pilot out of the cockpit? And where is he? (another mysterious hatch/subculture?...ooooooh!!!)sindatur wrote:How do you know it wasn't "overly fond of the Pilot" ?

2. It looks pretty much the same - they (as in Kate & Jack) saw the 'black smoke' in Exodus (part 2?) - it scuttled round as they were coming back from the Black Rock with the dynamite. Because we didn't see it when Locke saw it, and he seemed to react the same way as Eko, we can assume it's the same thing...
on that note, "black smoke" - didn't Danielle mention that when the 'black smoke' comes, so do the Others? Do you suppose what she was actually referring to WAS the 'monster' and not that fire she lit to attract their attention?

Well it's altogether possible Smokey did haul the Pilot out of the cockpit, because it was overly fond of him (Good people) and took him to where "good people" get taken to, Cindy was apprently "good" enough to take.
YEa looks like Exodus smoke (Which since they said we would see 5% of the monster in Exodus) leads me to believe the smoke is indeed the monster people thought was a dinosaur or a Mapinguari.
I would say definitely it is the same thing Locke saw, because it showed Eko things from his past, and Locke said it was the most beautiful thing ever, so I believe he saw Helen in it. It had to be an image Locke saw, 'cause no reason for him to say a puff of smoke was the most beautiful thing ever.
I'm not so sure Smokey is working with the "Others", so I'm not convinced smokey was the black smoke Danielle referred to, but, maybe it was.
