The Squid and the Whale

Post by Lord Mhoram »

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Daniels, and Laura Linney. About two kids and the divorce of their parents - an English teacher father who was once a successful novelist and a mother who is a blossoming novelist. Jealousy splits the kids between the parents basically, and the parents divorce after the mother's numerous affairs and the father's domineering personality. It was really quite brilliant, I enjoyed it very much. Anybody else see it?

Well, truthfully it has little to do with the plot. The squid and the whale are metaphors for the main character's relationship with his mother.

So there's no big showdown between a squid and a whale?

Nope, 'fraid not. (It is an odd title, isn't it?)
