Paul's parents were classical musicians who performed on many soundtracks when they lived in NYC. Paul had me to stay through the credits to see if he recognized any names mentioned in them. The first time we ever saw an added scewne after the credits that I remember was the original Look Who's Talking. Now, we always stay.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Magneto is an awful villain? I mean, the name - Magneto; he has magnetic powers (whoah!); and he looks terrible!

The thing with Magneto for me (in the movies, I haven't read the comic books) is that usually he's a big softie in regards to mutants. Other than their point of view regarding 'humans,' he and Xavier are friends, and respect each other. He's definitely a villain due to environment, and so easily could have been on the opposite side.

That's true of the X-Men universe though - good and bad aren't so simple. Magneto leads the X-Men for a time, and Xavier definately has a bad side. I think it's part of what makes it all so great.

It sure did. A couple of things have happened in the comics lately that also make you think of him in a different way.

Regarding Magneto, he's one of the most powerful human/mutant characters in the Marvel universe. He can't merely lift little pieces of metal, he can lift things like the bridge in the movie. And in the comic world, he permanently changed the earth's magnetic field so Charles couldn't use Cerebro. But he can also work in very subtle, precise ways, like in X2 when he took the iron out of the guard that Mystique had injected. And don't forget, there's enough iron in blood to enable him to give anyone a stroke, and other fun things.

I've always stayed through the credits anyway, because it's just part of the experience for me. But Ferris is the first time I remember anything happening after them. That was great!

I don't deny he's powerful, but he has such a silly name and costume.

do you think the casting of Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen was in part because they are both gay in real life?

i thought it was a good movie. well acted and entertaining, although the guy sitting in front of me and my GF decided to bring an entire chicken with him and insisted on eating it rather noisily.

'The last Stand' was an interesting title when they are so obviously gonna make a fourth one.(i did stay until after the credits

)

No, no, that doesn't appear to be the case. From wikipedia:

1997 he became engaged to Wendy Neuss, production assistant of Star Trek: Voyager (1995-2001). They married on August 25, 2000, only to later divorce on October 14, 2003. Four months before the divorce in June of that year he played opposite 24-year-old actress Lisa Dillon in a production of The Master Builder. He certainly does. I have one X-Man comic thing that I bought out of curiosity, and he was considerably more intimidating in that.

I was hoping we might be free of Magneto for X3. It's the Lex Luthor situation all over again.

First my peculiar story. One of my best friends is assoc. Prof at University of Calif., his dept is Earth Sci. and his academic speciality is geophysics, additionally he's a system admins to a server with the name "magento". BTW, my friend is not into comics at all. The first time I noticed that (his E-mail address contains the servername) I said to him, "Is your alter-ego Erich Lensherer?" and he answered I've had a few students comment on that, too.

IMO, I was hugely dissappointed by the movie, I liked it. I love X-men2: United, FWIW I was dissappointed by HP: GoF, too (again I loved PoA).

HP: GoF? Is that Harry Potter? I saw X3 last weekend, and while I liked it, it sure didn't look like the end of things...Tom says there will be four spin-off movies; that kind of makes sense considering things. I was happy to see a few of my favorite X-men characters from the comic in the movie, like Hank McCoy, Moira MacTaggart, and Kitty Pryde.
