Did you like story line of Thomas and Linden
Did you all like this story line, not the sunbane, but just the love story between Thomas and Linden.

OH yes, I loved it. It saddens me tho, because of Covenant's death (in our reality anyway). One of my favorite parts of The One Tree is when they finally consumated (sp) it. "Does everyone on this bloody rock know what we do with our privacy?" I cracked up. And Linden acting like a shy school girl.
And then in Revelstone, when he emerges from the banefire "fused". I thought it was wonderful when they fell into each other in Mhoram's old rooms. And then going to Glimmermere...
"Glimmermere recognizes me!"
I'm happy they both found love in each other. Even tho it was only for such a short time....

Covenant JR. - A lot of people seem to share your view of Linden, but for the life of me I've never understood why. I mean, sure, she got really tiresome from time to time, but to me, she was much less so than TC in the 1st chrons.
Give her a break!
The woman had some serious demons.

I find it interesting. How is it even possible to hate someone that much? (Maybe hate is the wrong word, but I do not know a better, loathe maybe.)duchess of malfi wrote:The primary problem I had with Linden was what happened with her mother...![]()

Yeah, I guess you can lump me in with the Linden haters. I just never liked her. I couldn't personally identify with her pain or her choices, though I could understand it. I understand her role in the story and even like the mushy stuff for TC's sake. I just didn't care for her or her perspective. I think it's that I never really felt that she had much passion or love... none of the gleaming moments of redemption that Covenant would show that made up for the emotional weight of three chapters of guilt, fear, obstinacy, etc.
I'm just hoping the Third Chrons aren't overly Linden-centric or that the years have made her slightly different.

I grew to like LA in the second chronicles just as I grew to like TC in the first, so I think she will be less annoying the next time arround.

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.
In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.
He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I can't tell you why I grew to appreciate Covenant despite his faults, but never got over my dislike of Linden. Something in her character repels me, I suppose. As for the romance aspect - I can understand that it did them both good, but I just don't think she has any redeeming qualities, so I suspect I find myself struggling with the whole concept. Grrrrr, Linden!

I think it just seems to me that he latches onto her like the lonely, drifting, haunted wreck of a man he is. That his desolation of spirit at the state of the Land/Foul's return and the isolation of his "real world" life (not to mention the isolation that comes with being the white gold wielder), combined with the fact that he now has a companion from his own world in the Land, have caused him to sort of fall into this "relationship" with Linden. I just can't see how it could happen any other way... She's so unpleasant!
Covenant, for pity's sake, marry Jehannum if you have to, just stay away from Linden!

Sigh, here goes.
First off I liked it that there was a budding relationship between LA and TC.
If it hadn't been for LA and her finally admitting she loved him
LA's presence was grating at times, but consider how her health sense was magnified in TWL because she being a physician and knowing ill from whole, how that must've been like a ball-pean hammer right on her head... constantly. She couldn't escape it for a minute.
Away from the land she was able to see clearly again and think clearly (for the most part). Hating what TC was doing to himself to accomplish his quest for the One Tree and the Staff of Law.
She also had no choice but to be there so she had to go along with it. Doesn't mean she had to like it.
She abhorred Death and of course the primary reason was her mother and the thus she as a doctor swore to protect all life regardless. With Covenant's body bleeding beneath her own she had to stick it out.
Over the course of time the love became enevitable.
Remember TC was just as annoying and grating in the first series as LA was in the second. and as Variol Son said she may be written to be less annoying in the third chronicles.

Then Covenant wouldn't been able to find love within himself to do what he needed to do. He was so afraid of death that much of what he did (despite his many actions to the contrary) was in avoidance of death. I guess he didn't want to die for nothing. Finally understanding that he was able to do what he needed."...when you opened the door shouting Goddamn it if I wanted visitors I'd posted a sign" and slammed it in my face... it was love at first sight."
