The sting of the loss still hurts.
I could mention about how the refs stole this one from us (just like 2004), but that wouldn't be appropriate, would it???
All I can really say is that I was impressed by both defenses, and although I will not apologize for the way the game stands in the record books if the shoe were on the other foot I might be pissed off too.
Well, like the say...it's far better to lose early in the season than late. We're ranked at #10 now, at if we run the table, should make it up to probably no later than #5 by the end of the season.
Who knows what kind of other upsets are looming out there for the rest of the young season?
And Auburn still has a few tough SEC games to go, too...
Letter to the editor, Knoxville News-Sentinel, September 19th, 2006:
Air Force sends thanks to city, UT as hosts
The city of Knoxville and the state of Tennessee have every right to be proud of their Vols, not only for their rich football tradition and storied success but how they represent the state of Tennessee.
The Air Force football program that came up a few yards short of a major upset was thoroughly impressed and thankful for our trip to Knoxville.
From the moment we stepped off the plane to the time we departed, the people of Knoxville made our experience one we will never forget. The rest of this nation should take notes on how to treat a visiting football program the way you do. UT Athletic Director Mike Hamilton should get all the credit for creating this historic event.
When the Fighting Falcons left the field under the standing ovation of your crowd, we saw the respect and admiration you have for our defenders of freedom. We obviously think the world of the young people we bring to Colorado Springs to become future officers in our greatest Air Force in the world, but to see your appreciation of them moved all of us who witnessed it.
You have gained many new Vols fans who bleed Air Force blue - except when the Falcons play the Vols. Your passion and loyalty should be emulated by all in this nation. Thank you again to the city of Knoxville and the University of Tennessee for a trip we will never forget.
So, another win for the Gators. But, I still think their modis operandi (not showing up to play until the second half) will do them in against LSU, Auburn, and Georgia. :::sigh:::
And, if all Tebow does is scramble whenever he's QB, he will be hurt by the end of the season, just you watch...
Well...I can speak for at least myself in saying that Florida is over rated, and the #2 defense in the country is coming in to pay ya'll a little visit this Saturday afternoon.
LSU is still pissed about the Auburn game, and Florida is just ripe for an *ss whipping.
