Les Nesman, one of the best tv characters back then. I remember one scene when a women was trying to pick him up for some scheme and she says to him that she can know all about a man just by his name. "What's your name?", she asks. He responds meekly, "Les".
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

It's a shame that show'll never be on DVD. It's a classic.

If I ever see TV Land or any other station run a marathon, I'm running out and buying a DVR. Truly one of the funniest shows ever on the air.

It's the music. No one's going to pay to license all the songs that were used on the show, and without the original songs.....

Haven't seen that in many moons - thanks! WKRP was a hoot.

This reminds me of the Dave Barry "exploding whale" story. Here's the link to the article - after reading it, click on the Video link to the left.

That's a real shame about the copyright laws. At least there are sights like youtube that let us still have access, limited as it may be.

HAW!!! That show has some great one-liners. Is there a thread?

I think this is its first thread. But I've told this before...

They were doing something for the homeless, and had a bunch of homeless folks around Jennifer's (Loni Anderson) desk. One particularly scraggly, old guy gives her a wink, and says, "You know, I'm not as old as I look." She replies, "Oh? Are you any richer than you look?"

 good one!

Here are a couple more funny bits from the show:
Mr. Carlson: Young lady, I've done thousands of promotions in my time. Now tell me, what's the problem?
Bailey: We don't know whether to give away Boston T-shirts or Foreigner T-shirts.
Mr. Carlson: Boston. Foreign stuff shrinks.

***

Johnny: Look, man, I took this job because I thought Carlson was like me. A guy who doesn't quite know what's going on around him, and he likes it that way.

Johnny Fever: "Ever Consider your hand..." (the line isn't as funny as the fact that he was so blotto)

Venus (I think) in the assessment of Herb's attire: "Somewhere there in a Volswagon Bug missing it's seatcovers".

Best sight gag: Herb says (after taking jennifer to Lunch and being seen with her publically) "This is my proudest moment", at which time he stands up to reveal that he has forgotten that he has spilled hi drink in his lap, looking as though he was wet his pants.

BTW....Bailey was much hotter then Jennifer.

Hell yes Bailey was hotter than Jennifer!

Homeless guy: Look lady, if you move the homeless shelter more than a few inches, no one's gonna be able to find it.

Venus Flytrap: I only came downtown to have one of my suits serviced.
Dr. Johnny Fever: I'll bet a suit like that stays in the shop most of the time.
Venus Flytrap: I got suits I can't get parts for.
