I don't watch all that much horror for the same reason. I'm skeptical about the supernatural in real life, but when it comes to horror movies it's easy to put myself in a naive state, open to suggestion. So it doesn't take much for something onscreen to jolt me. I want a good scare, like everyone else. But that makes me very selective about what horror movie I see these days.Lorelei wrote:Poltergeist - the original.......gave me nightmares for years after I saw it as a kid. To be honest its probably the reason I don't watch much horror now....don't want to go through that again.
Oh, and how could I forget about Altered States? It may not qualify as a horror movie to some, but it messed with my mind anyway. This movie showed me that taking hallucinatory drugs was a baaaad idea.
The Cell spooked my imagination, too. It may not have the same primal scare factor as the other horror films mentioned, but the imagery in this one really haunted me. I'm guessing this movie would be classified more as psychological thriller than as true horror (whatever that means). This also remains the only Jennifer Lopez movie I've seen. I'm glad I picked a good one, as I don't care for any of her other self-aggrandizing projects.
