Stranger Than Fiction

Post by wayfriend »

Synopsis wrote:This thoughtful comedy from director Marc Forster (MONSTER'S BALL) stars Will Ferrell as an IRS auditor who hears mysterious voices that begin to dictate the pattern of his life.
Of course, if you've seen the trailer, you know more.
Spoiler
A guy hears voices. He finds out he is a character in a story, and the voice he hears is the author's narration of the story. He learns that he, as a character, will be killed off. So he finds the author in order to persuade her not to kill him. The author is shocked to meet what she thought of as her character in a story. Hillarity, I presume, ensues.
Does anyone else think that this is "borrowed" from Dark Tower a bit much?

In form, but not context. It is really more like a Woody Allen play called "God".

It's another example of how King isn't all that original . . . he just takes ideas and does them better than anyone else has before him. 8)

that isn't him not being original. it's the fact that all stories have been done, and we all do variations.

I just thought i'd say i saw the trailer, it looks terrible.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

You guys don't think it's connected.

Suppose I tell you that Stephen King (the author) once cut an album (with the likes of Amy Tan, Norman Mailer, Dave Barry, et al) called ...

I watched it with my wife. I don't know, maybe our threshhold of entertainment is too low. We both liked it, because it was funny (but in a smart way), well-written, pretty well-acted, and entertaining overall.

For Null, I will say that there was nothing about the film that makes it a must-see on the big screen. A top-tier rental, then, IMHO.
