Grease is/was horribly overrated.

Full Metal Jacket.

It seemed just a really stupid and senseless movie. I have no idea what all the fuss is about.

I agree that the 2nd half of FMJ is senseless, but the first half is frikkin' hilarious!

Yeah, the second half leaves me cold, but R. Lee Ermey rules the first half.

"How tall are you son?" kills me every time.

Absolutely. I saw it for the first time a few months back, and although I can abide it, I don't understand its popularity.

I did like the Grease title song sung by Franki Valli. But I agree, the movie is overrated. I think it became the huge success that it was only because of John Travolta's star status at the time. After Saturday Night Fever, I guess Travolta was unstoppable for a time in the late 70's.

It wasn't just John Revolta. Olivia Neutron-Bomb was pretty hot at the time, too. Agreed. Very over-rated!

I'd also like to add E.T. to this list. I would have rather sat at home and drank a bottle of Log Cabin. I don't think it would have been as syrupy!

I pissed one of my friends off once when I told her that the moral of the story was that in order for a girl to get the man that she wants, she has to be a slut. I swear that's the message that I get from that movie every time I see the ending.

But at the same time, Travolta became all preppy to get the woman he wanted. They both changed a lot for the one they loved. It would have been a better moral if they had both stayed exactly as they were, told their friends to piss off if they didn't approve of their love, and been together. And even better if their friends had then said, "Oh hell, if you love him/her, go for it. But we're still gonna bust on you. It's what we do! :D"

Wow. That's what I have been saying for years! I recall a famous director said the same thing (cant think of who).

Grease is rubbish.
