My ultimate to play TC in a film version
Moderators: kevinswatch, Orlion
Someone should pass a link to this thread to SRD & the potential producers...I think there are a lot of pretty dang good actors listed, and it will give the casting people secondsies and thirdsies choices should the first bloke chosen not be available for filming!
see? I can be diplomatic when I try!

right so for trell.... hahahahahahaha get this! my friends dad looks EXACTLY like how trell is explained. he has the voice the hair the body shape and structure EVERYTHING hes even like crazily strong and everything! its sooooooo weird! id love to see him as Trell!Cable Seadreamer wrote:Ahhhh, aye Simcoe would indeed be perfect, and I simply cannot say enough good things about his acting in Farscape. Not to mention D'argo's voice is 100% Foamfollower.
Here's a good question... who would do a perfect voice for Lord Foul? My wife suggests Jeremy Irons, but he is pretty big-name. Perhaps not so expensive for what is, after all, a bit part only requiring his voice. I think he is too old, though. Don't want these actors croaking before all the movies are out.
Where would be a good place to shoot the movie for the Land?
I would tentatively slate Enya to do most of the soundtrack. Probably cost too much $$$, but would definitely emphasize the otherworldliness of the Land.
A tough call will be Lena. The actress will have to be young enough to pull off the young lena, but not so young that makeup will be difficult to do old Lena in the power that preserves.
I am stumped for someone to do Trell. Any ideas?
Drool will be a toughie also. The fellow who did Gollum in LOTR would probably do.

i just roll my eyes and make a beeline for the door but i always end up starryeyed crosslegged on the floor, hanging onto every word. MAN the things i heard!

Has anyone thought about the possibilities of Six Feet Under's Peter Krause for Covenant ?
you know, he just might work! I LOVED Six feet under, and he is just flexible enough to handle it.
Becoming Elijah has been released from Calderwood Books!

just some great suggestions in this thread !! Too bad it's all fallen thru, I wanna play anyhoo ...
the best suggestions, imo, in this thread for Covenant, in descending order
Thomas Covenant : Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Gabriel Byrne, Jim Calviziel, Adrien Brody, Peter Krause
Uma Thurman would make a superb Elena as someone nominated ..
I'd love to see David Wenham have a crack at Lord Mhoram, he has the requisite humanity, great actor .. he's a wee bit fair of hair, but that'd be easily fixed ..

A friend of mine and I were discussing this.
I liked his notions- Hugh Laurie as Covenant, Julianne Moore as Linden.
I suggested a twelve foot tall Ron Perlman as Saltheart Foamfollower.

I'm new here, and I'm absolutely amazed at how many of the guys I thought of for the role have come up in the collective concious:
Bale
Pheonix
Harris
Oldman
And yet, there is one name...who wouldn't fit a carbon film copy of the book Covenant...but humanize Covenant a little...
Crowe
Opinions?

Well, we'll just have to have a sit down, him and I...smack 'em around a lil' bit...knock some sense into 'em.

I'm a wfully new here to be saying such things, but ... some of you have clearly been living under the effects of Kevin's Dirt far too long.
The first six books were so long ago for me... so I'm gonna stick this go around to the MAN: TC.
For the "it must be SRD himself" crowd. If we want someone who looks exactly the part but CAN'T ACT, sure. He's perfect.
for the "think B list" trumpeters... there's no movie in the works, so we might as well dream. Plus, it's hard to discuss actors not everyone is familiar with. Better to point and giggle when somebody insists it MUSTbe Tom Cruise or else.
My covenant choices would be (sort of in order):
Gary Oldman (is brilliant in EVERYTHING he does)
Sean Penn (only mentioned once so far. The guy has RANGE, baby)
J. Phoenix ( good actor, and even sorta' got the look right)
Christian Bale (tolerable choice. I have troubles seeing it though)
John Cusack (how old is he now anyway...?)
Ed Norton could do it - maybe. Yeah...
My choices to NEVER, EVER be considered include:
Thomas Haden Church (he's a good TV actor, or second banana comic relief)
Viggo M (I'm still trying to forgive his portrayal of Aragorn)
Johnny Depp (too iconic. TC would be a pirate)
i'll take Arnie over Reeves...
Peter Krause - sorry. Just no.
If it really did happen - I would love to see some bigger names pick up some of the "important to the story/less screen time" parts, i.e. the (FR) (I think norton would be perfect for this part), Berek (he's always in the past, except for one bit - my vote goes to Ioan Gruffudd), Jeremiah (how about the "I see dead people" kid), foul (Pacino for Foul! Pacino for Foul!), Esmer (G. Oldman, if not TC...).
that's all I got. Way more than I thought I'd have.
