It's an e-book. I don't like the e-book format in general, but this is definitely worth reading. It's a bit stupid, very bizarre and, at times, highly amusing. The beginning is averagely entertaining, but it really gets good in the second half or so of the book.

...and that's about it, really. I recommend reading John Dies At The End.

OK, so I only read the title...I used to do that in English Lit classes too (amazing how much you can learn from "Brodies' Notes"...)

Turns out I never got round to reading much of this back when. I'm two stories in now. So far, I think the second one lacked something or other I'm not sure of. Not sure how much of it there is left to go.

It's divided into three parts. The first one is the introduction of soy sauce etc. The second one is...odd...but has some hilarity towards the end. I think my favourite is the third part though.

Also, there's a sequel. Oh yes.

Yeah. It seems pretty likely, to me, that the first two were written as individual stories, then the third to extend it into a novel, tying things together in the process. The third part of the book is definately better than the others. I'm up to the Epilogue (was halfway through it last night--you know that thing where you know for a fact you're near the end of a book and want to finish it off before bed, but it keps going, and going, until finally you have to give up and get some sleep? I had that problem here.)

I had that too. It was about 2am and I thought the epilogue would wrap things up in ten minutes or so, but it ran to about half a dozen pages. Gah.

On the subject of e-books, Nick Mamatas has just released his novel Move Under Ground under creative commons, so you can now read it at www.moveunderground.org
It's a mix of Lovecraftian ficiton and Jack Kerouac's On the Road. I've been wanting to read it for a while now, but was holding off on buying it.
