1. Meg Ryan
2. Jim Carrey
3. Richard Gere
4. Sandra Bullock
5. Steve Martin
6. Kevin Bacon
7. Jeff Daniels
8. Bruce Willis
9. Martin Sheen
10. Scarlet Johanssen
11. Matthew Broderick
12. Jeffrey Wright
13. Maria Bello
14. Donald Sutherland
15. Ewan McGregor
16. John Cusack
17. Isabella Rosellini
18. Dennis Quaid
19. Steve Buscemi
20. Maggie Gyllenhaal

Thought we could have some fun discussing the merits of the above, and whether any of them deserve Oscar glory. So, discuss. ;)

Considering his lengthy career and versatility, I'm really surprised that Donald Sutherland has never been nominated. Not even for Ordinary People? Bah, silly Oscar people.

Oh yeah, I've heard about that movie but never saw it. I hear Christian Slater was pretty good in it, too.

I thought about that role as well, Bacon was really good. He's definitely underrated as an actor. I'm also surprised to see that Sutherland has never been nominated.

Slater had a good period where he appeared to be a lot less "aware of himself", so to speak, and made three really good movies: Untamed Heart, True Romance and Murder in the First (and you could possibly count the one where the 4 guys go to Vegas and the girl dies: Very Bad Things).

Val Kilmer was robbed when he wasn't nominated for either his brilliant take on Doc Holliday in Tombstone or Chris Shiherlis in Heat.

Sutherland should've won for Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

I always thought Tom Sizemore should've been nominated for his portrayol of Sgt. Horvath in Saving Private Ryan.

MM I agree with your words about Donald Sutherland.
I would imagine at one point he HAS to be honoured properly...

Maggie Gylenhhal was robbed this year. Anyone who has seen SHerrybaby knows that she should have been nominated for best actress. A fearless performance!!!

I thought Dennis Quaid was good enough in 'Great Balls Of Fire' to garner at least a nomination.

Sandy Duncan as the clueless mother in "Barney goes to the Beach". Priceless.

I think Buscemi is an Oscar-worthy actor, but I'm struggling to think of a role to nominate him for. I know I've seen him in something... :?

My favorite Buscemi character was Garland Greene in Con-Air.

I think John Cusack is brilliant in everything he's ever done and it's shameful, simply shameful that he hasn't ever gotten a nom!

He wasn't that great in the one where he was an air traffic controller.

Fine! I dare you to say the same about "Better Off Dead", "One Crazy Summer", "Sixteen Candles", "Gross Point Blank", "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", "Being John Malkovitch", "Runaway Jury", "The Grifters", "Fat Man and Little Boy", "The Sure Thing", "Say Anything", and "Pushing Tin." :| :|
