So...did we ever decide if we were going to go to a keeper league or not?

The deadly triad which is the Louisiana contingent is chomping at the bit to get this next season going...

Sorry, but I'm not in if non-Watchers are playing this year. That non-watcher 'Reaper' asshole from last year is too much for me to stomach again.

I'll be there. Don't have a problem with a keeper league. Can't wait for September to get here so we can get started.

Say what you will...

Russell (Reapers) and Walt (Beer Guzzlers) filled a void last year that at least filled up our league when we couldn't get enough people on the Watch to join up.

They played every week (unlike at least one team that I can recall from the previous 2 years), participated in the live draft, and kept it competitive to the end, even though they were either on the brink of eliminiation, or eliminated before the final week.

(They were both hoping to join up again with us this year)

As for trash talking, maybe it is just a Louisiana thing, but I like it...it keeps things interesting, even if you don't necessarily like the content. Hell, I was the main target most of the time...

I tried a bit of trash talking myself my first year (2 years ago), but I never got any takers, so I didn't really get any enjoyment out of it on the board. Last year, at least we had some action on the message board of the league.

So...I am in again for my third go around. Hopefully this year we will be able to fill up our league with participating players every week.

Hey gents...I haven't forgotten about this topic. I'll be setting up a keeper league very soon assuming everyone is comfortable with me as commish. I suppose we'll have a mid to late august draft so we can deal with cuts, injuries, and holdouts.

As for members I'm guessing we'll have either 10 or 12. Ideally, anyone interested in playing should send me an offical pm so I can get the league set properly.

I've got a friend who plays in a 12 team league the pickings are real slim--a 12 team league with defensive players is different, tho...

Count me in for keeper and regular if we do both

I did. I had no issue with Walt, but frankly, I put up with entirely too much shit in real life to put up with Russ in my fantasy life. If he wants to join the Watch, and maybe learn something about the things we like and the way we act, then maybe I'd change my mind. As it is, I don't need him insulting me as I already have an ex-wife, boss and parents who do that job fine.

Anyone have any suggestions on free keeper league sites?

If not I'll set up a standard yahoo league and we'll offline draft in 08 and I'll keep track of practice squads and such.

Ok, it appears that we can use ESPN's fantasy engine for free keepers leagues.

A few questions....

1)Use ESPN's standard scoring format?
2)How many players should we keep?
3)How many total roster spots and should IR be available
4)How many total players in the league? (ie 10 or 12)

I'd like to be as democratic as possible and resolve most of these things asap while I've got the time (I'm going to be as busy as heck for the rest of the summer, at least)

Personally my votes are
Yes
not sure either most of the team or just 1 or 2
IR is good for 1 or 2 spots and 16 total is standard
I don't care but with 16 roster spots 10 is probably best

1) sure, why not?
2) 4.
3) 17 total, 2 on IR.
4) 10; none of them Reapers.

ok next issue...

we have
me
damelon
brinn
danlo
atomic
dan
guns
jelerak

Both of jelerak's friends who played last year want to return, however more than one person has mentioned no Reapers. Now I have to ask if we ban the reapers will jelerak and walt still play? If we don't dan isn't interested in playing. Clearly a catch 22...

I'm in no matter what.

Both Russell and Walt were just fillers for us last year when we couldn't fill the league.

If we can fill it here, and have a commitment to active participation (especially once we go to a keeper format) throughout the season with everyone, that's fine by me.

I was in before last year, and plan to stay in throughout the future.
