Just recently out (in Japan, but it WILL come here!) comes The Original Generations, an epic turn-based strategy game for the PS2, about a small battalion of soldiers who end heroes in the greatest wars mankind has ever known - it covers the Divine Wars, the L5 War, and the Neo Divine Wars.
The main characters of the story are: Ryusei Date( youtube.com/watch?v=wHeSMyAdlBU ), a rookie soldier newly recruited for his unique psychic powers. He is a member of the SRX Team Kyosuke Nanbu( youtube.com/watch?v=eNUmK-0bTn4 ) , a veteran of some years and second in command of the ATX Team. And then finally, Lamia Loveless ( youtube.com/watch?v=_I87lP48mng ) , a mysterious civilian woman with combat training that would put most special ops to shame...
These three fight alongside the dozens of other soldiers in the Hiryu Custom and Hagane squad, fighting for their cause...
... Okay, maybe I'm not so good at this. If you wanna hear more, drop me a line on one of my IMs. Or email.

You should've said something about "Super Robot Wars/Taisen." I've never played it, but I know of it.
Is it really going to come here? A lot of things "sure" to come out here seem to stall out before they actually make it, at least until they've managed to establish a solid 'history' here.
Ok, I don't have anything to back that up with, especially since I know a number of games which stalled even w/ a history of selling here (like Shining Force III
). But is it announced here or anything?

Well, I hope it does well
I will definitely consider buying some of the stuff. One of my favorite SRPG franchises, fire emblem, made it to the US 10 years (give or take a bit) after its debut in Japan, but has managed to build a pretty solid fanbase here over the few people who had imported it beforehand.
EDIT-If you're tenacious enough, you may have a lot of luck looking for patched roms of older Super Robot Wars games. For FE at least, fan-done translations became way more active and of higher quality after a reasonably large american fanbase sprouted up.

Well, I've played most of the old SRW games. In fact, I've beaten most of them.
But OGs has been doing pretty good in Japan. Its the number one game even over the latest ZELDA game, with over 400,000 sales in just a couple of weeks.
I really love all the details in Original Generators. Everyone has special voice clips for every single unit they can be in. Also, everyone has special cut-ins for every units, reflecting their height in regards to that unit's cockpit. Like the tall Kyosuke Nanbu has a bigger cockpit, so when the slight Lamia Loveless is in his Alt Eisen, she's visibly smaller then him. Also, people have jokes and different cries for various weapons, many which are rather funny.
Also, a lot of the enemy grunts have varied voices and a wide variety of uniforms, depending on their unit and everything. And I admit, I'm impressed with how brave the regular soldiers sound, even when fighting the legendary Personal Troopers and such. Like a Divine Crusader soldier shouting "I'll make you vanish, just like the original!" to a Huckebein, also known as a Vanishing Trooper. Or fighting a Grungust and not backing down despite seeing one just maul his fellow Armored Modules.
