Summer plans?
Anybody got some big plans for summer? Vacation time? Or is your evil boss a taskmaster and keeping you busy?
I'm going to Fort Bragg, North Carolina with my grandfather in July. He's an ex-Special Forces guy, so he gets the royal treatment when he's there. Going to meet a lot of his old friends, as well as visit some nice restaurants in the area.
Also planning to go to Lake Oconee, Georgia, as my grandmother owns a lakehouse there.
Aside from that, I'm looking forward to plenty of leisure time for reading and video game playing.

Sounds like a great summer!
Between us, Raen and I have five kids. It can get pretty hairy when we're all together. Nevertheless, we're taking all of them to Cape Cod for a week in August. I've never been there, but Raen went to a wedding there years ago.

Both of your plans sound great. I hope y'all have teriffic times.
Hyperception's and my only plans are to drive Beorn to and from camp in north Georgia. With stops to eat, it's about a 12 hour drive each way, so it's a two day trip for us at the start and end of his session.
In the past, we drove up the day before, stayed overnight with Beorn, and then dropped him off the next day. But, drop off doesn't start until 1:00 pm, and Hyperception and I would drag ourselves home in the wee morning hours.
This year we decided to drive up on opening day. If we don't get him there until 5:00 pm or so, so be it. Then we figure Hyperception and I could start the journey back home until we stop for the night. We would like to get back as far as Atlanta, but have no idea of inexpensive places to stay at. Hyperception is afraid we may have to get all the way back to Macon before we can find a place we can afford.

I'm not ambitious about summer vacations. I've got several weeks worth, and lots of leisure time is enough for me.
There's Winnipeg Folkfest next week, which will hopefully be awesome. It's a few km outside the city, so to me that's travelling, heh.
Like Lord Foul, I'm also going to squeeze in some reading and gaming, but just on my (only recently acquired) PS2.

Taking Cailette to Cozumel for a week in August.

Make sure you buy travel insurance for that one. My sister went to Cozumel a few years ago in September. A hurricane hit there the week after she left. Didn't affect her, but at that time of year you never know.Cail wrote:Taking Cailette to Cozumel for a week in August.

Big summer travel plans for me: 10 days in UK and 10 days Germany back to back, which starts in a week (work related) and then 2 weeks vacation in China in August.
Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

Got it covered, though I'm less worried about hurricanes than I am with the mentally unstable ex deciding at the last minute that there's some reason Cailette can't go.Damelon wrote:Make sure you buy travel insurance for that one.
