Can I buy the gap books anywhere in the UK at the moment...?

I've tried everywhere and cannnot find them.

I belive there is a new version planned for 3rd quarter 2008 but i can't wait that long.

...and new copies would be preferred.

Have you tried Forbidden Planet stores? London and Birmingham are the main locatiosn I think.
Last time I was in one I'm sure it stocked most of that series?

If not surely they could order it in for you or so could any of the main book suppliers?

I usually see some Gap books whenever I pop into Borders or Waterstone's in Cambridge, but again usually I do not check whether they have all of them. It might take a bit of a hunting but I believe you would be able to get all of them with some patience.

You can also try abebooks.com - I know you prefer new books, but as a last resort.
