mouse hand mystery

Post by lucimay »

ok. i asked matrixman and creator tonight and they looked at me (through the ether) like i was nuts.

so i just want to know.

particularly those who are in winter climate right now.

if its cool in the room where your computer lives, does your mouse hand feel cooler than your other hand?

this is a real question. why does this happen?

i mouse with my right hand, my left hand is always warmer.
measurably so if i knew how to measure it.
how can i measure something like that?

its weird. :shifty:

ah, the old cold mouse hand... ;)

But, yes, I know what you're talking about because it happens to me. I think the answer is simple: if you do lots of surfing (so you're not typing much) your mouse hand stays in a pretty static position. Of course, you move your hand to move the mouse, but it's really your arm you're moving (those are the muscles you're using apart from using one finger to click the mouse button). Your hand isn't doing anything other than sitting in the one position. Therefore there's hardly any movement of your hand = you get less circulation in your hand = cold hand. Even if you do do a bit of typing (with both hands), you always return your hand to that one same position on the mouse. If you saw what you did with your other hand then you might see it's a whole lot more active... 8O um...does that sound rude...???!!!...but ya know what I mean?

Problem solved! :D

My mouse hand is warmer than my non-mouse hand. Of course, I'm usually playing a game or something that requires twitching of the hands.

Of course, my left hand always seems colder than my right.

Well, my mouse hand is colder, but that's becuase it's closer to a large window, which is over a non-functioning heat vent. So all the heat in the room is sucked out to the glass.

The hand I'm using for the mouse is: slightly raised; not resting on another, warm body part (leg); and has the heel pressed against a wrist support, slightly reducing circulation.

I can't remember my mouse hand (right) ever being all that cold, but it's not as warm as my left hand which, if I'm not typing, is usually holding up my chin or sitting on my left thigh.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

*ditto*

Being against another body part keeps it warmer than my mouse/touchpad hand.

God Damn-it!
Now I'm going to notice that my mouse hand is cold all the time now!
Thanks!
One more OCD thing I have to worry about now. :-x

Although...does it matter that my left hand is usually down my pants when I surf?

Ever since that "flu shot" I received a couple years ago, or maybe the alien abduction, it's been like I have a wireless mouse in my mind. I no longer need a mouse; I just need to think of where and what I want clicked. I've thought about looking for metal in my body that always sets off metal detectors, but hey...I like my superpower.

So in answer, both hands stay the same temperature. Depending on what I'm looking at, of course.
