Nominations for Best Poem 2007

Post by variol son »

Kevins Watch abound with talent, as both the Hall of Gifts and the Writers Circle clearly demonstrate. In your journeys through both forums, which poem did you enjoy the most?

You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

you're more advanced than a cockroach,
have you ever tried explaining yourself
to one of them?
~ alan bates, the mothman prophecies

i've had this with actors before, on the set,
where they get upset about the [size of my]
trailer, and i'm always like...take my trailer,
cause... i'm from Kentucky
and that's not what we brag about.
~ george clooney, inside the actor's studio

a straight edge for legends at
the fold - searching for our
lost cities of gold. burnt tar,
gravel pits. sixteen gears switch.
Haphazard Lucy strolls by.

Seareach

Sweet mercy - !
Release me.
These secrets which bind us—
That place between
Where no other has been—
Break me.
These keys
I can no longer keep.
Seek absolution
In some other soul—
On me this now weighs heavily.
Through me you cannot find redemption.
Together there is only condemnation:
That we have shared these dark places,
That I have lit them for you,
Lived them with you,
Is not a passage to salvation.
Together we tread brimstone.

Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life

Thanks Cag. That's very kind of you. :) I confess I don't like that poem anymore--but I'm glad you do.
