Also, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" and "True Crime" were considered comparative flops.
In terms of critical flops, "Every Which Way But Loose" was thought fairly terrible, though it is one of his major commercial successes.
Not that it matters. Eastwood is one of the Gods of American cinema.

That article makes an interesting point about the younger stars on the list: that they've had only one, maybe two, bona fide box office hits in their careers amid bomb after bomb, yet studios will still pursue them for their perceived bankability. I guess the lesson is that, no matter what, youth sells.
They make a good point about Scarlett Johannson's acting credentials resting almost solely on Lost In Translation. I did love that movie and thought Johannson was wonderful in it, but I haven't seen any of her films since. I resist in large part because I just don't like the way Hollywood subsequently glamourized the heck out of her. That in itself perhaps isn't particularly wrong, but she doesn't seem real to me anymore. When I looked at posters for The Island, I didn't even recognize her. Is Johansson somewhere there underneath that super glossy makeup? Where was the girl I remembered from Lost In Translation? Oh...I guess she got lost in the translation to Hollywood pinup. Very ironic, considering that that film was parodying the very artificiality that Johansson seems to be caught up in.

To be fair, Match Point was really good. There were also a few good movies in the flop pile, Like "A Scanner Darkely".
I don't particularly think Clooney belongs on the list, despite Batman and Robin (and that wasn't even a flop was it? Just terrible)
And about Eastwood, he's gone from being a hell of a movie star to being one of the best directors in Hollywood. (I have adored *almost* every one of his movies)
Edit: Just got a new computer and I've been putting off installing microsoft word. Installing any microsoft software these days is a serious chore. Anyway point is, my spelling has suffered as a result

It's not that I hate romantic comedies, I'm just tired of the formula. When a movie breaks it, I am quick to notice. (Like Juno, which is really a romantic comedy, but is actually good so no-one calls it that.)
By the same token, I have had girls whine (for pretty much the same reasons) about seeing bond flicks (and other goofy action movies) with us guys.

Bruce Willis, I like enough of his stuff to say that he shouldn't be on this list.
George Clooney, I would probably hate him if it wasn't for Dusk Before Dawn. So..................he's ok.
Brad Pitt, total dickwad, loved him in Titanic though. (kidding)
Nicole Kidman, I love Nicole Kidman, I find her very attractive. I was impressed that I didn't even know she had an accent because the first few movies I saw of her she had the skill to eliminate it for the part. Her movies bore the living hell out of me though.
John Travolta, I have no idea why he ever rose from the grave initially. He's visually creeped me out since Grease.
Matthew McConaughey, for some reason I like this guy. I have no idea why.
Angelina Jolie, she's ok. I think it's her mouth though.
Nicolas Cage, I look at him and hear him speak and think to myself "he sucks, I don't want to watch his movie" and yet.....I think I like everything he's been in.
Keanu Reeves, the article hit it right on the head regarding his limited range. I did like Sweet November though.
Hilary Swank, I've never enjoyed any of her movies. She just has a certain look or presence that bores me.

Sandra Bullock, she's ok
Samuel L. Jackson is a star? He's just one step above Steven Seagal in my book. No range at all. Photoshop a Jedi robe and lightsaber around him in Pulp Fiction and you wouldn't know it was a different character.
