Same here. Read Timothy Zahn, Kevin J Anderson, and probably a few more forgettable ones. I also have the Guide to Character sourcebook.

Leper Fairy, the movie A New Hope (original Star Wars) came out first then Lucas published the bought version of the book (originally written by Alan Dean Foster I believe). Then the sequels spawn their own books based on the screen plays with a few embellishments.

I've read all three of the ORIGINAL books and Splinter of the Mind's eye which was the first of hundreds of continuing sagas... and the Han Solo trilogy (before he met Luke and the gang). Also read ADF's "in-between" novel (time line is between episode 1 and 2), I forget the name...shame on me.

As I understand it, the first books published after Jedi had played were the three books of Zahn's trilogy: Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command. I first saw them at the exit of the Star Wars ride at MGM in Disney, and was pretty excited about it. As it turns out, the excitement was well-deserved!

I read Star Wars and Splinter of the Mind's Eye, but got into TC and LOTR, and never went back to SW books. Perhaps I'll pick up a few next time I'm at the used book store...Which ones are the best?

The Attack of the Clones book is very good, muchh better than the film. And also, you are able to understand why Padme fell in love with Anakin.
