Caught my first Cabazon today; nice little fight. When I first got it out of the water I thought it was either a small Ling Cod or a big Sculpin. On that beach I've seen now five fish in the same family who all look very similar and have different regulations. I was gonna throw him back either way. I didn't measure him but I think he was a legal Cabazon. Also caught was a striped perch; very pretty but not too tasty: meat falls apart when you cook 'em.

I caucused, and I'm a delegate!! It's very exciting!
I also read a lot. And I'm almost done with my latest Erikson book. ALSO, I'm listening to the Across the Universe soundtrack, and for someone who's never really listened to the Beatles before, it's excellent. I love it lots and lots.
Also, I drank chocolate martinis. Right now. Lots of them. They taste like slightly vodka-y chocolate syrup!

Brother-in-law and his wife and kids came over saturday to visit for a couple of hours. We survived the kids (3 boys) jumping all over our couches, almost falling off of our balcony (we live 3 stories up), rummaging through our fridge, and poking our cockatiel. Damage report was nothing, miraculously.
Today we did nothing.

If not, I highly recommend the Vizcaya on Calle Ocho in Little Havanna. Not the greatest atmosphere, but awesome Cubano cuisine.
...well, at least it was when I left south Florida years ago, but it's been a staple for years; I am sure it must still be there...

Hey Wadds, does that mean you get to go to the national convention?Waddley Hasselhoff wrote:I caucused, and I'm a delegate!! It's very exciting!

Bummer, Lyr. Do you get Monday off, at least?
Looking forward to the 3-day weekend! I'm planning to do the girls' FAFSAs this weekend (must be filed by March 1, eek). MagickMaker is in town for an anime convention, but I won't see her 'til Sunday afternoonish. (Because she'll be at the convention, natch.) Hoping to get some writing done.

I find it's hard to ignore a message tapped out on someone's desk in morse using a sledgehammer.Wyldewode wrote:I might have tomorrow or Thursday off, but I won't know until later today. You'd think they'd tell us in advance, but communication isn't a strong suit where I am.
Proved the person knows Morse, of course.

Going away for the weekend to a wedding. The Rootling is staying home with the grandparents, so we should have some good couple time. The wedding though, meh. Mrs Root is in the wedding party, and the bride is a good friend of hers, but she really doesn't know many of the other guests well. And me, the only person I know who'll be there outside of my wife is the bride, and, from what I hear, she'll probably be too busy to talk much. Mrs Root will be at the head table for dinner, so that means I'll be sitting with lots of people I've never met. Could be a lot of fun, could be ugly. Kind of a crapshoot.
