Zombie Apocalypse - Character Creation Rules
To create a character, you must select one trait and one flaw. Characters are not allowed to have more than one trait or less than one flaw. Traits represent strengths of characters, or defining elements. For instance, a police officer could be defined as being heroic or clever. A flaw represents a weakness or fault of a character. An example might be that a character is weak or crippled.
Each trait confers a bonus to a character - like being better at defending or attacking or searching. A flaw results in a character being weaker in an area, such as with those above.
Once you have selected a trait and a flaw, you select a career. Careers are purely descriptive and confer no benefit and disadvantage; they exist for storytelling purposes.
Traits
Athletic - Excellent at attacking outdoors.
Charismatic - More likely to have a follower.
Fast - Moves two zones every turn.
Holy - Zombies find it difficult to attack the character.
Homeless - Extra health.
Intelligent - Skilled at investigating.
Inventor - Begins the game with two items.
Martial Artist - Kills more zombies using fists.
Occultist - Skilled at casting spells.
Owns a car - Starts the game with a car.
Pugilist - Kills more zombies using fists.
Stealthily - Easier to sneak past zombies.
Tough - Resistant to damage
Wealthy - Starts the game with an expensive suit (defense bonus).
Zombie Hunter - Kills more zombies with each attack.
Flaws
Absent Minded - Less likely to succeed at finding useful items.
Alcoholic - There is a chance every turn that the character becomes drunk and receives a lower chance of success on every action he or she takes.
Clumsy - Difficult to sneak past zombies.
Coward - Kills very few zombies.
Crippled - Can never move more than one zone a turn.
Cursed - Zombies do more damage to character.
Homeless - Begins the game with no items.
Pervert - Less likely to have a follower.
Sickly - Easily killed.
Skeptic - Can never cast spells.
Unlicensed Driver - Can never drive a vehicle.

Makes their spells more powerful.Murrin wrote:A small question concerning one of those traits: "Occultist - Skilled at casting spells." What effect exactly does that have on gameplay? It's the only one where it's not clear how the description fits in.

There are no careers - you decide what career your character has (within reason). But careers make no difference on the game.Balon wrote:Is there a list of careers?
