IRON MAN REVIEWS: The Tomatometer at 93% Fresh (Positive)

The stable of reviews from Rotten Tomatoes suggests that we may have a winner here. I wish I could be there at opening day this friday. :-(

For a comparison

Rotten Tomatoes posted critic approval ratings of:
Spiderman 90%
Spiderman 2 93%
Spiderman 3 62%
Daredevil 44%
Hulk 61%
FF1 26%
FF2 35%
Ghost Rider 28%
The Punisher 28%
Superman Returns 77%
Batman Begins 84%
X-men 80%
X-2 87%
X-3 56%
Catwoman 10%
Elektra 9%

Edit: 93% for those critics is pretty decent.

OUT....FREAKING....STANDING!

I guess they continue to add reviews as they are written. If that's the case the number could go up or down as time goes by.

Edit:93% - 174 positive out of 188 total professional reviews

I haven't seen it yet, although I hope to do so during the weekend, but I'm told there's an extra scene after the credits which one should really see...

Plus, SuperHeroHype says that apparently there's already buzz of releasing Iron Man 2 in 2010...

Looks like you'll have to go back then :P But seriously, I think you can find it as a bootleg on youtube already. It apparently concerns a certain one-eyed character...

You know the thing about Iron man is that he's my superhero.
From the first time I cracked open an Iron Man comic back in the 70s I was hooked. The first few were given to me. The very first issue I read was Iron Man 82 and for some reason it just clicked.

Image

From that moment on I read and bought Iron man comics every chance I got. Today I own every Invincible Iron man that's been published and I've done my best to pick up the many mini series, Avengers, Forceworks, War Machine and guest appearances.
But Iron man wasn't the most popular character around and I never understood that. It seemed to make sense to me early on that a genius that creates his own power and is not beholding to an accident of fate (radioactive spider bite, being an alien, exposed to cosmic or gamma rays) is pretty much the coolest thing going since in the far flung possibilities of the technological future...it just might actually happen.
And so since my favorite character wasn't the most popular I've had to watch just about everyone else's favorite character translated to television and movies while I patiently waited my turn. I knew it was coming but it just seemed so far away...until today.
I had nothing to do with Iron man but as I read the reviews and comments of those that have been fortunate enough to have seen the film I am filled with a fan's pride for the character, the actors, director and creator. I can't imagine how I'm going to feel when I finally make my way to the theater and take my place at the same table where my friends have sat before me to enjoy a banquet of satisfaction that will finally quench a thirst I've lived with for so many years.

Sometimes you see the previews, and think the movie will be great! Then you see the movie, and it turns out the previews were the only thing worth seeing.

Iron Man, however, is not like that!! The whole damned movie is as good as the previews!!! If you love the previews, you'll love the movie!! Probably my favorite comic book movie, although it's been a while since I watched X-Men II or Spiderman II, so I can't say absolutely. Excellent, excellent movie, though!

As hot as the first two Spideys were, I must say they wore thin after repeated viewings. I do recall the joy of Peter Parker experimenting with his powers in the first film, and some of the action in 2 still excites, but I feel it's not a complete product.

That said, I'm psyched about Iron Man. Not as much as Dark Knight, though.
