I'll probably get a PS3 if Metal Gear Solid 4 is Godlike. I don't mind big consoles (I owned an Xbox), I like the color black, and I certainly don't mind a low-ranked system (Dreamcast, for example, was great, and PS3 may well have a similar future, even if it fails).

Cool, I'll add you to my friends list (if I ever get an evening free from work again). Haven't played the marvel game but Forza and GTA are great titles. If you like first person shooters then I'd recommend either Bioshock or Call of Duty 4 and if you have a hard drive make sure to check out the games on Xbox Live Arcade!

I plan to one day pick up a PS3, but it will be after a new Final Fantasy and more importantly after the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus team put out their new game, which they say will only be on the PS3.

As for the PS3, while I appreciate the desire to prove my penis is bigger than yours, I'm confident enough in my manliness that I don't need to. The XBox is fine; it has a great game library, and XBL is, to quote another term from this thread, Godlike compared to any other online service.

As for COD, I prefer my shooters on the PC (*cough* UT3! *cough*), since playing an FPS with a gamepad is like pleasuring your wife with a dildo. It works, but there are much better tools to use.

5 years ago, I was all about story. Now I've reached the point where it's OK for a game to be just a game; hence, I played "Feeding Frenzy" (it came on the arcade disk) for about 4 hours last night

In a few months, I'll be purchasing a Creator's Club membership so I can upload my own games. I've already got the XNA studio, and I've been playing around with it, and I'm quite impressed so far at how complete and effective it is.

Sorry, let me sanitize the above for you:

I don't feel the need to brag about my console being better than anyone else's. The one I got works for me, and I don't look down on anyone else's console (this was a direct response to someone imtimating that the one I picked wasn't technologically advanced enough, which is an odd thing to say about having fun).

As for playing FPS games on consoles, I feel that the input controls are suboptimal. Gamepads are great for certain types of games, and not so much for others. The Wii input would be much better for that type. Unfortunately, I don't have a Wii. I do, however, have a PC, so I will continue to play FPS games on that instead.

FF13 would have been a good reason for me to buy a PS3 at some point, but after FF12 (and how disappointed I was with it), I have sworn off Square games. I will not play another Square game until they make Chrono Break. Boycott!-jay

Well, FF12 is definitely a beautiful game visually. And it has it's moments.

But way too many nit-picky things about it pissed me off.

And I still think in general, the characters and the story were pretty lame (outside of Balthier).

Mate, you can try and prove that if you want but I am talking about consoles here.

PS3 is not inferior or low-ranked, actually haven't PS3 sales been on the rise and have overtaken the Xbox 360. Anyway, so far the game library no both consoles has been disappointing. Nothing truley big has come out exclusively on PS3(though Next week MSG4 comes which will be huge). Xbox had Halo 3 but taht game is sooo overrated, match prefer UT3 on PC.
The really big games(GTA4, COD4) have both come on the same console.

Give FF13 a chance. Many though that FF10 was going to be rubbish after the disappointing(quite bad) Final Fantasy 9 came out but FF10 came good. FF13 will be on a next console and you never what Square can come up with.
I do think though that this might be the last FF game.
