The Venture Bros! - Why is no one watching this show????????

Post by kevinswatch »

Hehe. I just had to make a topic for this obscure, yet completely awesome, show that's on late night Sundays on Adult Swim. It's hands down the best new show I've seen in a while. I haven't laughed so hard at a cartoon in the longest time.

Summary of the show: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venture_Brothers

Basically, for those of you who don't know, The Venture Bros. is a cartoon that's a spoof/parody of the old Johnny Quest show. And it parodies a lot of other stuff as well. The Venture brothers are two dorky teenagers who go on "adventures" with their father, a scientist, and their father's bodyguard Brock (voiced by Patrick Warburton). Brock is your classic secret agent badass, who spends most of the show killing people. The show has a real clever sense of humor. And from what I've heard, the writers of the show were originally writers of the Tick cartoon, so that should be proof enough that this is funny stuff.

If you want to check it out, it's on Cartoon Network late night on Sundays.-jay

Funniest cartoon ever. Haven't heard any word yet if they're doing a second season (please, please, please!).

(I was *this* close to doing a Brock Samson avatar)
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Don't worry, a second season has definitely been confirmed. Adult Swim has been advertising it. They're in the middle of writing it now. Although the worst part about it is that it looks like we'll have to wait until spring of 2006 (!) until we can see it.

They also said the first season DVD should be out late this year maybe. :R

Haha, a Brock Samson avatar would be great.-jay

Damn, Jay, you beat me to it. I was thrilled to see the new ep last night.

And for those who have no idea what we're talking about, the season 1 DVD is out.

Bump for the absolutely amasing new episode that I just saw tonight. Season 2 has been simply perfect. I can not express the greatness of this show in mortal words. The creators of the Venture Bros. have built upon Season 1 and have made the show even better. The Venture Bros. is the only show on TV that actually has me laughing out loud with. For like, entire episodes, too. The characters are awesome, the plots are great, and the diologue is top notch. The level of humor is simply unmatched.

This show is my new god.-jay

Funniest animated show on television. Best animated show on television. It is AMAZING to me that a show that gets the budget it does can look so awesome. Great premiere to season 3! (Not quite as good as the season 2 premiere, it's hard to beat Hank jumping off of the roof dressed as Batman with an umbrella.)

I HIGHLY recommended to anyone and everyone. (If you liked the Tick, you will adore it.) You can watch episodes for free at Adultswim.com.

www.adultswim.com/shows/venturebros/ind ... html#video

(the ones marked "episode" are full episodes. They actually always keep the weeks show on the website, sometimes they will offer the whole series for limited times.)

... I really love this show. Everything about it is wonderful, the writing, the characters, the appearance, the setting, the premise. Might actually end up being one of the greatest shows ever on television.

all the jokes just blend together so well...the storyline...it just lampoons the whole notion of heroes and villains so well...and all the other cartoon references are hilarious...

Cowboy: Why you doin' this, Doc?
Doc Holliday: Because Wyatt Earp is my friend.
Cowboy: Friend? Hell, I got lots of friends.
Doc Holliday: ... I don't.

I just caught the 3rd episode on AS.com. Another great episode! I am so intrigued by the strong continuity these guys are forming for their universe. It's not the usual "anything goes" kind of comedy, there is that comic-book sensibility in creating a world that is absolutely silly and ridiculous, but very complete and fleshed out. The show has gone so far beyond what I expect of an animated comedy. It's a fresh and wonderful work of Brilliance!

The show is like nothing that has existed before, and I doubt it will ever happen again. We all need to enjoy it while we can!
