The ultimate Watch Google-Whack

Post by Prebe »

I haven't made it, sorry ;)

But I thought it would be an interesting competition:

Find two words (of which at least one is in dictionary.com), google them and end up with exactly one hit. A hit that is www.kevinswatch.com.

Hard, yes. But to make it a bit easier one of the words can be a name (not usually allowed in puristic google whacking).

For those unfamiliar with puristic google whacking, the standard rules are: Two words, both in the dictionary, and exactly one hit.

A modest example: Syllabub coloscopy.

Edit: Does SRD know about this site?

(I found it by googling "rhysh roynish"

by ending up with exactly one hit, do you mean that you can only have one page come up, or that you would hit the I'm feeling lucky button, and it would take you here? Because I don't think I've ever had only one result come up on google...

edit: never mind, I looked it up. You do mean having only one result total. Wow, that'd be interesting to see if someone could get it to work!
I live in my own little world...but its okay, they know me here!

Exactly. Google whacking is a fabulous pass-time. Especially when the goal is to hit one special URL, while still using known words.

Try my above example for a true google whack (and then again, coloscopy is strictly a synonym for the more used colonoscopy that yields over a 100 hits combined with syllabub. One wonders.... :D).

Nice work DW! I thought it would be harder.

To make it harder, we could of course change the rules to be: One word in the dictionary (not a name, or a Watch member ;)) and one word ACTUALLY found in one of the SRD books. ;). The above mentioned link, while probably illegal, might be a good place to veirfy the existence of "Donaldsonian" words.

Or, for the REAL challenge: BOTH words have to be in the dictionary...

Heh! The "DOH", I assume, is refering to both words being names right?

No, doh! was because I thought I was first.

Yep. And Amazon has lists of words found in the books, too. For example, try amanibhavam + ranyhyn.

This is a classic that keeps popping up:

www.gdiproductions.net/srdamd/

My best so far was "Roynish flamberg" with three hits. None of them was the watch though :(

Top notch! Hats off to you Jenn. I had figured this would run for days!

Edit: I just found out that dictionary.com does not recognise "unambergrised".

Mostly because it's a crappy dictionary of course ;)

DW is awarded a 100 WGD's to be the first using the initial easy rules.

Jenn's effort was awarded a 100 wg$ for being an exceptionally good try at the ultimate goal (both words in dictionary.com)

The grand prize is a 1000 wgd's.

Good try HLT. But that's THREE hits. And one of them is even Amazon.com. But nice try ;)

Oh, damn. I didn't understand.
I thought it had to be the first site that came up not the only site.
